Denmark offers to buy US

COPENHAGEN (The Borowitz Report)—After rebuffing Donald J. Trump’s hypothetical proposal to purchase Greenland, the government of Denmark has announced that it would be interested in buying the United States instead.

“As we have stated, Greenland is not for sale,” a spokesperson for the Danish government said on Friday. “We have noted, however, that during the Trump regime pretty much everything in the United States, including its government, has most definitely been for sale.”

“Denmark would be interested in purchasing the United States in its entirety, with the exception of its government,” the spokesperson added.

A key provision of the purchase offer, the spokesperson said, would be the relocation of Donald Trump to another country “to be determined,” with Russia and North Korea cited as possible destinations.

If Denmark’s bid for the United States is accepted, the Scandinavian nation has ambitious plans for its new acquisition. “We believe that, by giving the U.S. an educational system and national health care, it could be transformed from a vast land mass into a great nation,” the spokesperson said.

Well, I would propose Canada to do the same as Denmark, decline Trumps heartfelt offer for Canada to become America’s 51st state and counter with - ‘We’d like to extend an offer out for USA’s entire western seaboard - the democratic blue states and disdain of Donald Trump - California, Oregon and Topper’s ex-friends - the state of Washington to come join Canada!’

I think what you mean is that most of Ontario and 53% of British Columbia would like to extend that offer.

California is operating with a reported $27B deficit, but it's actually closer to $45B.

Oregon has a state debt of $13.8B, however they have a local government debt that runs up to $30B.

Washington is reportedly looking at a deficit of up to $12B.

I don't think BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, can afford to take on your blue state buddies equalization entitlements as the prairie provinces are already carrying the rest of the country east of them, and BC is barely treading water on its own.

I also suspect that the majority of the country would like to avoid taking on the crime rates from anywhere in the US.

This would put the USA below the Combined European Union at $18.7 but still ahead of the #2 country China at just over $14 Trillion

I’ll qualify that equal investment needs to go into refining and manufacturing. It’s stupid to sell the raw materials only to have the final product sold back to you at a mark up.
