He plays mostly wing in Abby though.

Also, if the plan was to open the chq book on Debrusk, mgmt should have just let DJ81 walk. Or at least put DJ81 on hold until they know if they could get Debrusk. Not sure if spending like $8M on wingers on the 3rd line is a prudent way to manage a roster.

Debrusk isn’t a 3rd line player. Yes they could have waited to sign Joshua but the risk was that they don’t get DeBrusk and Joshua walks as a FA.

Toffoli’s contract is more than what we are paying DeBrusk. Not sure I want him at what the cost would be. I don’t like the 7 year term but his cap is fine. The cost of free agency.

We're on opposite sides of this one Blob.

Feels like a lot of slow down on VT's end the past couple of years to me.

Louie Erickson UFA from Boston 82-30-33-63.
A perfect winger for the Sedins - 6x6m (36m)

Louie DeBrusk’s son UFA from Boston 80-19-21-40.
A perfect winger for Pettersson - 7x5.5m (38.5m)

Louie, Louie - Oh No
We gotta go.

Lois Eriksson just didn't give a fuck. Period. I have never seen a player mail it in like him in this town. Mark Gastineau, maybe??

Jake will be a solid addition imho.

@ Leves.... he is still a 60 point winger. He doesn't have the pins he once had but the guy can produce. Detroit had a couple bucks so it's a layup imho for them. That team needs to get shakin though. Maybe he chips in on a second line for them? I'm scratching my head about some of their moves. They gave that Walman kid to San Jose which was odd.

The skating of DeBrusk, Heinen and Sherwood is exactly what this forward group needed. I welcome the additions. We were too slow of a team. I’m This will be an in your face tenacious hockey team playing that Tocchey Hockey system. I see a similar team to the Panthers.

Management and coaching staff seem to have their ‘type’ of player. I look at all the additions and they all have “Tocchy Hockey” qualities. Ie-Skinner was never a consideration, IMO.

No big fish landed, but smart, sensible additions that may play better than their contracts suggest but at least should live up to their cap hits. With the extra cap space, Allvin has the latitude to make a trade to get another top-6 forward.

Important use of available cap to try to keep a balanced roster as well. If we had signed Big Z that means no DeBrusk, or no to 2-3 of the other 4 we added.

I don't think there was a "big fish" that we could have afforded.....and I'm relieved by that because I don't think that Guentzel is worth what he got, and so many other UFA's aren't either.

Honestly, that one was a head scratcher. They could have retained Stamkos for 4 years at $8M.....taking him to 38 years old. Instead, they go after Guentzel and pay him $9M until he is 36. Their outgoing captain is a player who has scored at over 1.0PPG in his career, has won a pair of Rocket Richard's, a Messier Leadership (sorry Corn), and Selke votes (though no wins), while often while being the focus of the line he is on.....the guy they prefer scores at 0.94PPG and does it while being the complimentary piece to one of the best players of all time.

If we had the cap space, and weren't having to re-sign Hughes in a few years, I would have been very OK with enticing Stamkos here for what Nashville paid.

Demko’s UFA status the season after next is a growing concern. Need to get more top end goalie talent in the pipeline to deal with the potential of losing him. When you don’t have goaltending it’s really difficult to obtain “quality” in that department

Age has nothing to do with being a bust. Lots of Jakes suck before they are 27.

And damn right I’ve been traumatized:

At least we’ll know early is Louie’s son is going to be as bad as Louie. If he can avoid scoring an own goal in his first game, he’ll be better. At least it’s a low bar.

Yah, I was thinking more of DJ81 and Garly8. We pay Garly like $5M as well and he plays primarily on the 3rd line.

Seriously though, might be time to give Garly a chance in a more offensive role and better players. He showed he can elevate his game in the playoffs.
Tocc should try a line of Debrusk-EP40-Garly for an extended stretch.
