Nick Ritchie’s bargaining position got a whole lot better with Perry going down. If Anaheim still can’t sign him, with the implied message that they would rather choose a prospect under contract than deal with him, why wouldn’t Benning see about getting him? Throw in Eriksson and Motte and see what Anaheim says. If they don’t want to move towards Ritchie’s camp’s position now, they are not likely to do so once the season starts. What Anaheim needs is serviceable bodies with Perry out and Ritchie holding out, unless they want to recall Rodin.
