So, now that the Canucks have won two games in a row has Aquaman put a 'cease and desist' order to management regarding trades?
If he has then clearly the communication channels between him and JR/PA are not working very well.

Or at least it’s not going to happen with the group we have now. Then you have to put together a new plan.”

That article tells me he's going to do some pretty serious rearranging of this franchise.
If what I think is going to happen we're looking at at least a couple years of shittiness.
Yay

Yep. He pretty much has 2 years to turn this into a legit contender. If he can’t then Hughes is gone.
At least he recognizes it and said that if they are burning it down Hughes would be moved as well……he then went on to say that they want Hughes to spend his entire career here.

Soooo.....with a few promising prospects on the back coming along nicely, I am in agreement with Chef on the need to reload on centers using the assets we get back for JT and EP (I figure it's a foregone conclusion That both are out)
There's Raty and that's about it...
Dallas has a trio of youngsters that are going through their sophomore slumps. It sure would be nice to snag Wyatt Johnson but not as likely as getting Stank or Bork.
Rags are devoid of anything
Buffalo has the well discussed Cozens (who I would definitely take a stab)
Colorado is apparently looking to add a Miller type but how would we all feel about that gimp face can't do a chinup weenie as the centerpiece return? Yay?

so what was the window 1 , 2 years? Hughes will go elsewhere asap.
Deal Brock, keep Demko for a bit longer & see if his game rebounds, then deal him.
While i'd prefer to keep JT over Petey, at this point i think they both need to go. No half measures.
Get 1st round picks in both deals and maybe Allvin can do a Hronek like deal again. If not, start drafting centers i guess
I wonder if Petey getting $11.6 on his new contract agitated Millers already existing dislike for EP40?
Wage animosity is a thing.

Have they ever built anything from the ground up. The Penguins were an inheritance. One year in Carolina with a small handful of home grown products after 11 years.

Oh fack nay!
This is one exception where an ex-Buffalo player wasn't better after leaving. He was good for a few months after the trade to Colorado but now is even worse than when he was a Sabre.
Which one of y'all use to call him a retarded kid? (ie. his famous photo of a chin-up attempt)

11.6 and Pamper Pull-ups... a winning combination!
Might as well trade Hughes right now too and save everyone the angst.
EDIT: GD, you guys are quick on the draw... like Sharon Stone, but much hairier I'm sure.

What does this team look like last year in the playoffs with a strong and mobile 2C that scores 5G/10P in 13 games instead of the gangly muffin who gave us 1G/6P…..
I think that team looks like at least conference finalist.
I also think that the turnaround for this team hinges on Miller reengaging.
The current team with an 85+ point JT Miller 1C and a 2C that is able to add 65-70P is a playoff bound team.
Add a top-4 D that can improve our corps ability to move the puck up under control and the turnaround is quite plausible.

A big reason why I am coming around to trading Petey, think short term, there is more of a chance of this happening than Petey finding his grove again.

Mëds, yes, you don't need a couple of 100pts centers when you literally have fuckin' Bobby Orr (lite) in the Captain, in his prime, approaching a 100pt season.... and maybe at least a few more years like this to come.
An engaged Miller who the league knows is an asshole and can be a physical beast, a young top 6 center with already proven potential that if currently struggling, you know can return to form and become a prime player here.
Add a top 4D into the mix and that is money well-spent... about the same amount that is now around 13% of our cap.
This has always seemed to me like a reasonable solution to what is ailing this season. Aqua will blow up his staff before blowing up the team and suffer years of the dreaded REBUILD... when he just thought he got over a painful, decade-long RE-TOOL.
