Interesting question Lizzy. The Stars and Bars crew will undoubtedly blame it all on Scooter Boy, the raisin and the Balidies etc.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:45 pm So if Miller is traded and EP103.2 returns to the form he demonstrated early on in his career....who are you more pissed off at?
Doc is interesting because he's big time Toby Keith type of dude but he cheers for theteam and hasn't been piling on "Scooter Boy"

If Pettersson were to return to form after Miller was moved out, then the Canucks are committed to building around a guy who is going to be very hard to build around. It means they are endorsing a culture where muffins who can't handle criticism and accountability from their peers are the norm.
No fucking thank you.

Re: Pettersson/Miller
In my professional career, I was once in an organization where every employee but the CEO reported to me directly (7 people in executive management) or indirectly (about 750 people, including at least 125 who supervised other employees or supervisors). I reported to the CEO.Mëds wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 3:13 pmManagement.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:45 pm So if Miller is traded and EP103.2 returns to the form he demonstrated early on in his career....who are you more pissed off at?

I didn't want muffins as employees, but personalities are not infinitely moldable.
I didn't like employees criticizing their peers like they are the boss. Constructively working together to create the best work product? Absolutely.
Pushing each other to be better -- sure, could be fine, could be welcome, but it is not an infinite good because done poorly, it doesn't make for better work or workplace. When the guy who is full of his own work problems starts telling other people how to do their jobs and that he cares and that no one else does? That is a problem. And does it in an emotional way? A big problem. Muffins or not. Clean up your room first, as JBP might say....
And when the boss criticizes, I want it to be done smartly. Not any criticism will do. Calibrated to improve performance. The manner depends on the audience, not the manager. And when that manager's criticism isn't effective, who is to blame? The manager. They haven't done their job. Sometimes of course they can't, but if they didn't fire the bad employee or reassign them to a task they are better equipped to handle, still the manager's fault.
If a manager is held responsible for the productivity of the performance of the unit, why would we say the player who assumes the role of manager without the authority to do so or the wisdom to do so well is the one to keep around when they pretend to play an authority role and in the process contributes to decreasing performance?
EP40 might be mercurial. Might be overpaid. Might be underperforming. But I've seen this movie many times IRL. If -- and that's an if -- JT is contributing to the team's performance in a negative way by creating the eggshell environment, moving the muffin is unlikely to help. There will always be muffins, personalities that chaff a guy that profiles as JT is rumored to be. And what we know beyond rumor is JT's negative explosions corollate (sadly) with his own less-than-ideal play. He's at his most visibly petulant when he personally isn't playing a complete game. And who here knows *that* guy? The one who deflects and blames others when he's failing. The people who blame the world for their problems (or at least external things).
I get entertaining an EP40 move if its a good hockey move, under a sober assessment of his likely value and with a club that has a rosier assessment of his value and is willing to pay. I don't really care for that if there isn't a near-term core-type player in return.
Last bit -- if a guy feels the privilege to be more of a prick because his colleague makes more money and the guy thinks he doesn't contribute as much as he does, then that's a different kind of muffin persona. 22 of 23 players on an NHL team aren't going to make the most money, and its not unusual at all for the highest paid player to not be the best. It isn't an invitation to be a prick.

I'm sure he will rebound back to, or near his previous form. He's too young and talented not to (unless he's injured).Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:45 pm So if Miller is traded and EP103.2 returns to the form he demonstrated early on in his career....who are you more pissed off at?
But what if one of his future team mates has a alpha aggressive pensonality? Does the muffin pull his head back into his shell?
If you can't do your job because you don't like someone in the workplace (who doesn't have any authority over you) then that's on you.
You don't sign a 8 year contract unless your willing to deal with it.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it
Re: Pettersson/Miller
Pettersson is a prima Donna who gets pushed around way too easily by opposing defenders. I’ve seen enough.

He hasn't always been the wet noodle we see today. He was a much stronger, harder pasta chunk.

I see, we are hanging our hats on a player that "gives 'er" when it suits him.
Is that it?
JT fucks off for 10 games so EP blesses us with a better effort for his 11.6.
Prima Donna Petunia....

Re: Pettersson/Miller
Your professional career is not one where you are constantly being pitted against opponents (or teammates if at practice) to compete physically to achieve dominance. I know that alpha and ego are present in every environment, but blood never runs so hot as when in a physical push/shove I taking place. Shit happens. Things get said.UWSaint wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 3:50 pmIn my professional career…Mëds wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 3:13 pmManagement.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:45 pm So if Miller is traded and EP103.2 returns to the form he demonstrated early on in his career....who are you more pissed off at?

As for JT…..his behaviour in the locker room is all media speculation. As Lever has pointed out, former opponent and teammate players (Keith Yandle for one) have absolutely endorsed Miller’s character. The only people calling Miller a hotheaded bad teammate are media “insiders”, fans, and (allegedly) Elias Pettersson from a beach vacation.
The speculation that more than just Petey are done with Miller is also media clickbait.
If this was Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, or Sidney Crosby, would anyone be shitting on them and pretending that the muffin should be protected?
As for the salary…..I don’t think it’s because Petey makes more than Miller. I think it’s because he held out and his contract meant that the Canucks had to wave goodbye to a couple of warriors in Zadorov and Lindholm. This happens in pro sports all of the time, but the idea is that the player gobbling up all the cheddar plays to a level that offsets the departed. As I mentioned, Crosby was rumoured to be pissed with Malkin for holding out. Not because he begrudged his teammate more money than himself, but because he wanted to win more than be content with just his millions, and Malkin’s salary meant less money for depth.
