He's getting his little pipe cleaner straightened by an 11.6/10
So JT was wrong about him?
I have figured out the cause of the rift. It makes perfect sense now. JT was jealous and wanted a piece of the action.

So, if we end up trading Petey after signing both Pettersson & Miller to massive extensions that would be management trading Miller Pettersson & Horvat since they've been here.

Not a great look. Personality and team chemistry evaluation could use some work.

To be fair, Miller and Petey were working - until they weren't. That said, you would have thought they would have exercised more diligence before signing Petey. Was their continued cooperative coexistence just assumed?

That said, the Petey extension should be considered separate from Miller; whether Petey could get along with Miller is not the prime consideration, so much as his ceiling and how likely he would reach it.

The key decision was made between Horvat and Miller. Miller had (and demonstrably still has) the higher ceiling, but the higher risk. I also don't think management was too enamoured with Horvat's leadership; you don't just trade your captain lightly. Chytil, Mancini and a 1st-round pick is a significantly better than Beauvillier, Raty and a 1st-round pick, but markets were different. Would last year have happened with Horvat and essentially a mid-top-6 forward? Horvat could probably replicate Miller's match-up duties, but none of the offence. Does Hughes develop the way he does if he's not the captain?

It's "What If" history, but I don't fault management for trying like hell to make it work. The more Petey continues like this, the more it looks like a bad idea to trade him before his NMC kicks in - unless management wants to trade off the cap space no matter the return. With the salary cap rising significantly, maybe it's worth taking the risk that he grows up, trains up and gets to where they want him to be. Sadly, I don't see that happening this year.

How many times has Aqualung called the geriatric asking about his $92.8M?

Spare no expense on physio therapy and psychological training this coming off season. Take over his life for a short time to ensure he is doing the things he needs to do. That is the price of being a professional. The Sedins should be all over this TBH, they cracked the code on this.

According to some ex players like Brad Richardson the tension between the two has existed for awhile , also, the Horvat/Miller tension existed prior to Horvat being traded.

I don’t think this just evolved

The 'spare no expense" has always been there for him. He has to be willing to put in the work.

The Sedins in their time were fitness junkies, always showed up to camp as the fittest, year in, year out which is why I always laugh at the unfair “sisters” comments. Super disciplined and took pride in preparation. If I’m Aqualini, I sit everyone down in a room coaching to management and that includes Petey and the Sedins and I look Petey in the eye and say “listen you little fuck, this summer you are spending it with the Sedins!”

If Petey never had a "Turn Around and Come to Jesus" moment in his career before now, this summer will be it, regardless how he does the rest of the way. I agree, I would want to be a fly on the wall at Petey's exit meeting this season, when I hopefully see such a scenario play out. I would like to see him sequestered all summer in a "Hank & Danny Boot Camp" which sees him come out a born-again pro athlete. I don't care, keep him away from his hottie girlfriend and any other distractions; post a pin-up pic of her in front of the stationary bike or something to give him extra motivation. ;)
