Garrioch says Karlsson wants to stay??

Alex Nunn (European prospects. Swedish and Russian hockey. Contributer to Blue shirt Banter) -
"Kovalchuk reported to be getting around $6m per-season w/ the #NYR on a 2/3-year deal. Not official until July 1st, of course."
need to google translate it: https://www.sport-express.ru/hockey/nhl ... d-1394275/
But I think the owner doesn't want to pay him though.....Like sands through the hourglassErik Karlsson says he'd like to stay. Will sit down with the organization in the off-season to discuss the plan.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I don't doubt he'd like to stay but I'm sure he not only wants assurance on a contract extension but commitment from the organization to winning and spending the money to do that!
For Ottawa that's going to be the biggest issue, especially with the cap potentially exceeding $80m.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
It'll be interesting following that Karlsson story for sure.
A lot of Isles fans are pissed today.

Newsday can confirm that both GM Garth Snow and Coach Doug Weight have been led to believe they will be back in their roles for next season.

Nothing wrong with the job Doug Weight has done there.
Snow on the other hand.... should probably get the hook

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The fact that there is nothing in place for Tavares makes me inclined to agree. But at the same time, Stamkos and Yzerman stared at each other across the table for months before finally coming to terms after Stamkos had hit the UFA market. I think the fact that the Bolts were a contender and on the cusp of being good enough to challenge year in and out for the next 4-6 years had something to do with that.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 5:21 pm Nothing wrong with the job Doug Weight has done there.

IF Tavares doesn't want to stay, nothing Snow can do. Previous ownership had Snow's hands bound and hogtied for years.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I'd totally missed this, but Corey Schneider's lost the starting job in NJ going into the playoffs.
Winless in his last 12 starts (going back to Dec 27 2017!), the Devils are turning to Keith Kinkaid after he carried them into the playoffs down the stretch (10-3-1 since March).

Same story in Washington. Holtby taking a backseat to Grubrauer, at least for game 1.ESQ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 1:13 pm I'd totally missed this, but Corey Schneider's lost the starting job in NJ going into the playoffs.

Schneids was doing extremely well until Dec 27th.ESQ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 1:13 pm I'd totally missed this, but Corey Schneider's lost the starting job in NJ going into the playoffs.

Then he began to struggle and within a week was in and out of the lineup... "unknown" and "flu" were the reports.
Not long afterwards they changed the reason from "flu" to "groin"... and shut him down for a month.
He came back on March 1st and has only played 5 games since... and he has not played well.
As some of you will remember, he once admitted he struggled with panic attacks in Vancouver.
I'm suggesting that this problem is still there... and possibly getting worse.
I have known people who suffer from this condition and it's unreal if he has been able to handle #1 NHL goalie duties with dat dere.
(so kudos to him)
I could of course be wrong about what is ailing him of late, this is just an opinion/possibility...

As soon as I read the update about Schneider I was thinking about you and Cory’s panic attacks. Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Its definitely a bit of a pattern - Schneider is amazing in low-pressure situations, and cramps/freezes/freaks out when there is pressure (like a playoff race...or a penalty shot in a playoff game...).
Can't help but feel Ol' Gillis pulled a fast one on Lou in getting BoHo for Corey!
And I could totally see Lou being the old school guy with no appreciation of mental illness, thinking he can just make Corey get a haircut and he'll snap right out of it.

Have you seen their goaltending ? Teams don’t win when one goalies save pctg is .908 and the other is .892.
I think if you check the cumulative save pctg of playoff teams goalies you will be above .915 as a committee
