Flip the goalies around between Florida and Edmonton. What are the results?

97 can only get that 8th year from Edmonton at this point. Its about money to a point. He also hand picked the president, the coach, his best friend is Leon and his wife has started a thriving business there. He goes nowhere. Edmonton is a slightly more cosmopolitan version of Baghdad or Oakland but he would look like an absolute parasite if he left after this deal.

I think he would have the sack to at least let the club know he won't re-up a year out like MT. Not pull a Jammies Tavares. Hilarious to see the love MT gets here now. Puke Stroker and 3/4 of this board hated his guts and told everyone for 7 years that Elmo picked the correct London Knight. Wiebo was adamant.
Did you see his media interview today? Last part was 'interesting.' Also, he really is a terrible public speaker.

Yikes to that last part....

Regarding the 8 years on a new contract, with escalating HRR and salary caps would it be best to sign a shorter term contract before signing the retirement contract?..

Take care...

Exactly, players like McDavid don't have to worry about that 8th year - even if his health starts failing, and his numbers drop off - some team will give him the Sundin treatment later in his career.

Money and term are not an issue here.

Winning, and location are.

I'd be surprised to see him sign more than a bridge deal in Edm if at all.

If Nurse is only overpaid by two million, then Edmonton should be able to trade him at the end of the season (presuming no trade clause doesn't interfere), because his real salary will be less and there will be teams whose internal cap is lower than the real one. But I personally don't see Nurse as a $7.25 M player -- I think his play has degraded the past couple of seasons, but I guess value is set by only one GM and only one needs to disagree.

This year I think Florida wins the series no matter the goaltender. Last year, Skinner played more games well than poorly -- and that's why they didn't have "goalie" on their list of needs in the offseason (but had Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson...). But I agree with your basic point that Edmonton isn't optimally setting themselves up with Skinner between the pipes.

The leaves are saving the cap room for next summer - Connor McDavid. Trust the Chef’s recipe’s.

In case anyone was hoping management would land him, Marchment was traded from Dallas to Seattle for a '26 3rd round pick, and a '25 4th round pick.

Tampa rumoured to be hot on the heels for Peterka and are dangling top prospect Isaac Howard. Chef would love the German Peterka in a Canuck Uni, he’s a beast - 6’-0” 190 lbs. Yes a winger but our top 6 needs help in all 6 slots. Offer up the 2025 1st and Hronek and Hoglander. Getterdun

Old man Toews must need money like old man Perry needs money. No offence to Toews but his last few seasons in Chicago was nothing extraordinary. Why is he doing this? Clown

Would be tough watching Bryan's kid flop all over the place in a Vancouver uni. Atrocious diver.

Pass.

Not the impression I got in my limited viewing, I'd describe him as a soft, skilled perimiter player who for some reason reminds me of Lockwood who we are watching in the Calder Cup finals....

If that is what you'd offer for Peterka, I think we need to take your drivers license away...

Interesting article on one of the players who may make the permanent jump from the farm to the parent team next year and how spot on Benning was in his assesment after he was aquired in a trade ...

I would agree. He will be a pain in the ass to deal with in Seattle, but we have a better option in Sherwood.

Capt. Serious Goes Home.

1 yr deal, with a lot of bonus potential. 2M base, up to 5M bonus.

The guy doesn't just blow a wad of money to go to some Hindustani mountain retreat for a George Harrison-esque detox just to make post-NHL retirement life easier on himself. No doubt he saw what Marchand did at the same age, and wants to see what's left in the tank now that he's 'cured'.

I wager he won't be taking up much cap space. I don't see Winnipeg having a problem fitting him into the middle six of the forward roster. He's a Winnipegger to boot. It makes sense to me for both sides.

Better there than in Tarranna or Edmonchuk.

I will give kudos to the scouts on that one. And the player. He's improved big time the last few years. I see a yop 9 foward there. Watched him Tuesday in Abby.

The Sedins love Karlsson, they’ve been working with him a lot, coachable.
