Nylander’s contract isn’t that bad. I agree with UW in that he’s pretty equal to Ehlers and a 6 million dollar hit might be more palatable but 7 million a year isn’t a boat anchor for a young 60 point player.

Toronto should have signed Nylander earlier and cheaper. They should have tied Matthews up longer at that hit and they crapped the bed with Marner. Dubas has had a sketchy 12 months. Though as a Canuck fan whose manager has made several blunders with the cap in the past I don’t throw too many rocks at other teams.

If you throw out last year where he didn’t obviously get to play a whole season and train properly, Nylander had back to back 60 point seasons and he’s 23. That’s worth 6 million plus no matter how much we hate the leaves. UK made the comparison to Nik Ehlers and I think it’s an apt one.
