So.

Mercer and Semec for a Miller package was the discussion point.

Mercer and Semec for a Miller package was the discussion point.

That’s my ideal return, Mercer and Nemec, it’s Nemec btw. I’d rather have Saliyev but Saliyev is a helluva prospect and they ain’t trading Saliyev. The problem however is Miller makes $8.5 million while Mercer makes $4,000,000 per and Nemec $1,000,000 shy. Jersey is adding $3.5 million to the cap so something has to give there and I don’t want to retain salary, and I don’t think Allvin does either. Being that they want a centre, in return, sensible, logical. I’m seeing Mercer, a veteran (salary) and a pick. The pick quality depends on the veteran (salary) quality. I like Mercer but he’s a downgrade from Miller.

I do not think Fitz would trade Hischier right now.

He does everything for them (that EP should be doing for us) and is just 26.

PP PK excellent face offs ppg signed on the cheap through 26/27.

They are operating with a good deal of desirable assets without gutting one of their top 2 centers.

I agree, Lever. Hischier is a helluva 200 foot centre with great offensive instincts. I only suggest it for contract for contract reasons.

Yeah yeah, all week I've said Nemec, typo's today.

As far as the 8 mill versus 4 mill goes, that's up to Fitz and Allvin to sort out.

I haven't looked at NJ's salary structure to see nip and tuck options.

As far as downgrades goes....net gain on EP improved play (IF Miller is really the poor lads issue) potentially offsets.

With RS Willander on the way, I know dingbats out there seem to only focus on the present but the real weak spot in our “future top 4” is a LS D-man. Nemec who is a righty, doesn’t make sense long term, especially since he seems to be in the dog house like Jiricek, red flag.

It’s the age factor and ceiling that makes me choose Petey over Miller. The team seemed to not miss Miller at all while he was on hiatus and Petey played great in his absence

Leves, I was impressed with Willander at the WJC, he’s your future big game minute muncher. He’s pretty much untouchable

I gave you two options.

Keep.

Or move.

So maintain him as an asset and slowly bring him along and see what you have in Nemec.

If Hughes Hronek and Nemec stud it up fill that gap at center you are consistently troubled by in moving Willander (if he develops as you surmise)...blue chip for blue chip.

Or move Nemec later.

Or Hronek.

Options from a place of strength is where we need to be (and never are)...

Pettersson returning to form is far more likely than Miller defying father time by the time his contract ends

0.79 PPG career player with a plus-24 and 52% FOW.

However, when the post season hits he becomes a 0.53 PPG player with a minus-9.....FOW goes up to 54% though.

He's your typical European top-6 forward. Regular season stud, playoff no-show.

The contract reasons, and his deployment as a 200 foot guy, both make it a smart trade. But he's listed as 6' 1" - 175lbs......him and Pettersson would be the most pushed around top-2 centers in the league.

If you're somehow swapping out Boeser, Hoglander, and parts for a combination of Wilson, Thompson, and Barbashev.....then sure, you can have a couple of storks down the middle I suppose.

BUT!!!!

If we're making wholesale changes here and resetting the club......

To BUF: Pettersson
To VAN: Cozens + Byram

To NJ: Miller + Desharnais + 2nd
To VAN: Hischier + Nemec/Pesce

Exchange Boeser for someone with a bit more speed and size.

Move on from Hoglander and try and replace him with a more useful bottom-6 winger between 25-27 who plays with more chutzpah.
