Yep, just over 5 years ago - Van was getting too crowded. And full. Of something.

Thought it would cost the Oil more than that to move Ceci considering the jam they were in.

Are the Sharks the new Coyotes?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Certainly seem to be. However, I have a gut feeling that they will do a better job of developing their not unsubstantial collection of high end prospects much better than AZ ever did.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

This is the second time Emberson has been traded as part of a deal to get the team trading him a sweetener. He has "tweener" value; think Mark Friedman.

Ceci was not an absolute train wreck last year, at least when he wasn't paired with Nurse. This is a downgrade for the Edmonton D, though I assume they are going to match on Broberg which will make things a little better for them.

Essentially replacing Ceci with Broberg, but with a higher cap hit, and we'll see if Broberg ever lives up to that contract. He didn't look out of place last playoffs but it's not like he moved the needle appreciatively while averaging 15 minutes a game in the playoffs. Moving the puck is his supposed calling card, but I don't see him improving on what Ceci contributed to the team over a whole season, while I can imagine him getting exposed defensively at the same or higher rate than Ceci - even if it's young D growing pains.

Edmonton isn't further ahead with this move. Their blueline is now younger on average, but more expensive and with less depth. I'm sure they didn't want to pay Broberg that much until after Ceci's contract was up next year at least, but their hand was forced. Not the worst case I could have hoped for, but St Louis still managed to fuck with Edmonton significantly.

Not sure if they can still keep both Holloway and Broberg, but it looks more likely that Broberg is staying - and here I thought they were going to keep Holloway.

Laine to the Habs
Canadiens acquire Patrik Laine from Blue Jackets

The Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets have come together on a big trade.

The Canadiens have acquired Patrik Laine and a 2026 second-round pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets. In exchange, defenceman Jordan Harris will go from Montreal to Columbus.

Laine's value has certainly disappeared. He has 2 years to get his game back and show he still belongs in the NHL. His shot islethalbut the rest of his game he has never developed. I wish him well. Boy what a horrible draft year. All but Kchooook has busted out.

They say Laine absolutely refuses to workout properly or backcheck at all, among other things (mopey).

In a word, he's fucky.

So much God-given talent, such a shame...

Yes of course I forgot Matthews was the 1st that year. wasn't that the year of the 2 Finns, Juolevi, and PLD? So 1st and 6th were good?
