We gave up a major young asset for Horvat
It was for a top 10 pick.

He sucked at drafting and everyone knows it.

Why are you still flogging away on this?
Hdub was making excuses for the worst drafting GM in hockey history

No I wasn’t Dude. I was simply saying he’s right about the sway of scouts after the first round. Nothing in that takes away the responsibility of the GM in making those picks. Man you are so vested in hating Gillis you’ve become Uber sensitive to anything that remotely looks like a defence of the man. Give it a rest already.
The only HW the Canucks need

You seem to imply that it is a reason outside his performance as Canucks GM. Please share your theory. I'd like to understand the enduring fascination.

Psychologically intriguing how these comparisons arise on this particular thread.

I can assure you that the Dude doesn't have a homo bone in his entire body.

Although you may be onto something with your cacomorphobia/myxophobia combo.

Those two plus a bit of peladophobia may be part of his love for punishing Blob and Gillis at the same time.

If you put all three together you will see what I mean.

At any rate, I'm sure it's a healthy way to deal with such feelings.

Whats really fucked up is that 10 years ago Blob was defending and the dude attacking the gm.

They switched jerseys or consciousnesses or something

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

6 years since Rogers Arena fired him and still without a job in the NHL

It’s because Blob is angry over his firing.

Blob was over it years ago and if you read back to those times right before it happened, Blob saw the writing on the wall. Blob thought it was time to head in a new direction. But by all means continue to make shit up

I beg to differ, you are STILL his biggest defender to this day. You used to get extremely angry over the criticisms thrown at Gillis leading you to create the legendary term - the Urine Crew!

How am I his defender? I’ve said several times that his drafting sucked shit. Elmer’s drafting had been solid even though he blundered a couple top 6 picks. Not sure what it is you need in that regard. They have both made there share of horrendous trades and a pile of mostly meh trades. Probably a saw off there. July 1 is where Lennie Small has made a lot of terrible decisions. Eye Bags on the other hand made a lot of solid signings in free agency. It’s too bad they couldn’t combine their efforts. We’d have a pretty solid GM.

.

Curious to hear what solid signings you are referring to?

https://www.nucksmisconduct.com/2014/2/ ... he-canucks

That draft record? Yikes!

Dealing, whether it be for UFA's or trades is about leverage and control....

In UFA, the players hold the leverage and controls the process....the bigger the name the more leverage and control the player holds which is why there are so many train wreck signings in UFA..

And teams today are spending more $ and employing more people in their pro scouting and developmental programs that make it harder and harder to "win" trades....

So where do the Canucks look to deal from a position of strength and take advantage of another teams weakness?

Their strength heading into next season is their cap space and the weakness they want to take advantage of is another teams lack of cap space...

Look there for the homerun deals...

Take care...
