Claims to swallow a lot of pride.

And the leaves start off by...
@News1130Sports

Can you redeem a conditional 7th round pick for a teen burger?

Conditional 7th:
Erik Erlendsson @erlendssonTBO
If Ashton does not appear in 15 games with #tblightning next season then #leaves receive no compensation for this deal
In other words: Leaves just gave away Ashton and Broll for zilch.
The curious part is WHY.
Most doubt either one will ever make it as an NHLer, but they were both decent AHLers.
The consensus out there is that the Leaves are clearing room for a bigger deal(s).
They were at the 50 contract maximum, now they're at 48.
So a 3-for-1 deal coming up?
Two 2-for-1 deals?
Stay tuned!
Can the Leaves become even
more watered-down?
If I had any sources they'd be telling me a Leaves/Predators blockbuster is coming right up.

Imagines Shanahan taking the elevator to the lower engineering levels below the ACC and walking into a room that doubles as a broom closet.
"Hi Dave, how's the new office?"
"Real nice boss", says Dave dabbing at sesame seeds on his desk. "Boss, I'm still waiting for a phone and internet connection to be installed and I notice my cell phone doesn't work down here. Should I be on Rogers or Bell?"
"Not sure Dave, I'll check into that for you. Now Dave, I see we're carrying 50 contracts and a few are dead weight. Doesn't leave us much wiggle room if a deal suddenly surfaces at the deadline."
"Oh yeah boss, I guess so, You know, Brian always handled that stuff, sorry. You know, I called him last week about some of our contracts but he said he works for the Flames now. Can't understand that, he still lives here.
"Say boss, do you have some change for the pay phone, I want to call Santorelli's agent and get back to him on that three million a year for three years I read about in the papers. I bet he'd go for 2.75 million per and and a five year term if I toss in a no movement clause."
"Ahhhhh no Dave, um, no, sorry I don't have any change on me. Maybe you could wander over to Young Street and ask someone for spare change."

BREAKING NEWS
How bad are things for the leaves? Operation critical. As I type this special forces units are storming the playing surface and taking control of centre ice. Humvees, machine guns, fully equipped soldieres including the general in charge of our special forces have taken over. Guns pointed at Oilers bench. It's a war zone. Oilers limping to the ice but the leaves look charged. Lives are on the line as Canada's team has been take over and the ACC now an occupied territory. Will there be beheadings, burnings at the stake? Stayed tuned as NBC's Brian Williams to go live with a report from this war torn arena.
