Don't like the idea of going into the season with Chytil penciled in for 2C, but they definitely need some snarl.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:14 pm They need some hairy forearms on the wings if they're going to roll with soft centers. I can see Pettersson Chytil and Suter as their 1-2-3 centers IF they compliment that with some anger on their flanks
Swapping Boesers 8 for some girth would help

We'll burn that bridge when we get to it

Agree with Cuz and dangles on the snarl.
100%.
EP, Chytil and Suter down the middle is soft like butter though.
Filip has some size but perennial head trauma issues mitigate that.
I get the hairy arm on the wings theory but you need 3 or 4 to offset that groups frailty down the pipe.

Speaking of tough guys, Megs, what ever happened to that Indigenous defender they signed 2 or 3 years back?

Ethan Bear? He's with Washington's AHL affiliate in Hershey. He's not very tough, though, and kind of small.

I don't remember Donny. We gave up on Jalen Chatfield much to my chagrin, but he's black.
There's a center we drafted from an Ontario reserve named Daimon Gardner, he's at St Cloud State.
edited - I remember now, it was Brady Keeper. He missed the full first season of his contract due to a training camp injury and only got into 35 games in the second year. He went on to sign with Montreal or Laval last season, but he seems to be inactive this year, according to Hockeydb.

Hockey message board fantasy scenario:
Rutherford has acquired mind control abilities over the Little Eagles, and can do anything he wants within League rules, on any timetable he wants.
He asks for your input on what the Canucks should do over the course of the rest of the Hughes contract, with a particular emphasis on this off-season.
What do you tell him?

Do whatever it takes to land a true top six centre. Do whatever it takes to sign Marner and Tavares. Re-sign Suter. Trade Blueger and Silovs. Get Willander under contract. Either extend Demko or trade him. Trade Garland. Get a true top six left winger.Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 11:36 pm Hockey message board fantasy scenario:

Do all of this and keep our 1st RD pick.
Other than that can't think of much.
The only HW the Canucks need

I'd say the amount you offered was pretty substantial!

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
Though I'd leave this here - June 30th is the earliest date teams can talk to RFAs, with July 1st being the earliest an offer sheet can be signed.
OFFER SHEET AAV: COMPENSATION
$1,544,424 or less - None
Over $1,544,424 to $2,340,037: Third-round pick
Over $2,340,037 to $4,680,076: Second-round pick
Over $4,680,076 to $7,020,113: First- and third-round picks
Over $7,020,113 to $9,360,153: First-, second-, and third-round picks
Over $9,360,153 to $11,700,192: Two firsts, one second and one third
Over $11,700,192: Four first-round picks
Canucks Draft Picks:
2025 - 1st (15th OA), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th
2026 - 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th & 6th
2027 - 1st. 3rd, 2x 4th (Mikheyev)
Perhaps this is the chance to start reuniting the Hughes boys... Luke Hughes - D - NJD: 7G 44P - 925K. Not sure he has Quinn's upside - but being on the same team, you know he will get the best training/mentoring etc. Would you throw a 7x9.3mil at him?
Some other notable RFAs:
Marco Rossi - C - MIN: 24G 60P - 863K - A midget. Not sure I'd want such a small #2C. No thanks here.
Mason McTavish - C - ANA: 22G 52P - 894K - Really interesting. Has great size, skill - but would need a sizable contract to pull him. Has bust written all over it.
JJ Peterka - LW - BUF: 67G 67P - 856K - Never seen him play. No idea.
Gabe Vilardi - RW - WIN: 27G 61P - 3.44M - Brock Boeser's replacement?

I definitely throw something at McTavish. Anything in that second round pick range would be well worth the gamble. But to pry him away we may need to go to the next level.

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
Try for something that would walk him right to free agency perhaps? As in that range, I'm sure the Ducks would just match - unless there was an issue with length.5thhorseman wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 2:52 pm I definitely throw something at McTavish. Ducks have lots of cap room. You'd have to offer an outrageous contract. Boeser money, max term?
