Gaborik out 8 weeks at the very minimum with a foot injury.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/artic ... oot-injury

around the league:

Pens Matt Murray injured his hand, out for October maybe part of November.

Bruins Frank Vatrano injured his foot training, out 3 months.

Mark Stone has concussion, no timeline for return.

Curtis Lazar has mono.

Flames Backlund out with concussion,

Seguin foot injury out till begining of regular season, his foot injury is a different one than his archilles injury last season,

Rakell surgery out at least two weeks,

Ekblad skating already so just a minor concussion.

Steen just has wonky shoulder, should be alright.

I think Bergeron may have a slight leg up over Marchand there, mick.
And rightfully so, but does he want it and hard to believe but he's 31 already..
This will be Bergeron's 10th season serving with an 'A', what leads you to believe he wouldn't accept the Captaincy honour?

Absolutely nothing. Some people are just not comfortable with the "C" because of the distraction that comes with it.
Like the rah-rah speech in the room, ( maybe he does that already, I don't know ).
But even more, the constant mikes in your face. That's a big one, even more, in a hockey town.
It definitely hasn't went well for Max in Montreal. He's just not suited for it...

High end RFA's - Bob McKenzie goes in.
Ristolainen/Lindholm are pointing to Aaron Ekblad (8 x $7.5M) and not saying they expect exactly that, but are aiming for $6M+, $6.5M maybe.
with buffalo/ducks using jones/reilly comps.
Rieder frustrated by ARI's hard line. His options: 1. Take ARI offer. 2. Ask for a trade. 3. Go to KHL (he has offers). 4. Withhold service.

Tobias Rieder is looking for 2 x $2.5M from ARI on bridge deal. ARI holding firm in low 2's, $2.2M perhaps or suggesting he take 1 yr QO.
on kucherov, saying standard 6x6 for star players after ELC but,
On 6 yr deal, TB, IIRC, would buy two years of Kucherov's UFA, so one could argue he should be north of $6M, maybe well north, on 6 yr term.
Kucherov proven playoff performances are making this difficult, as kuch has played mvp like.

So mac says the obvious, TBL has to move a contract or try to high-pay bridge him around 2x4 - 2x4.5 I guess.

Same holds true for Gaudreau, flames want him to a Monohan contract 6 x $6.375, but they might have to bridge him as well, as Gaudreau wants elite cash 7.5m-8M per.

Either way we should trade with TBL.

Yeah there sure are a ton of analysts and hockey publications that are picking the Canucks for a bottom 3 finish. I'd have no problem with that if they can snag Nolan Patrick. It would be well worth it.
