So you'd sign him for 1 year and give up 4 first round picks on a hope and prayer that you can resign him?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 12:38 pm Marner is worth 11 or 12. I’d offersheet him if the Canucks were a bit further along. He’s one of the best players in the league.
Go Leapin Lou! Payback is a bitch. Marner on that team and that is four picks in the mid to late 20s![]()
Those dollars or worse, the $13 million that's being floated around should it become a reality would be the benchmark for the likes of Boeser and Pettersson and their new contracts...
We should all hope that Dubas somehow finds a way to recover for the massive screw ups in caving to Nylander and botching the Matthews situation and gets Marner signed to a lower number than what the pundits are predicting....
And as for Babcock, have never been a fan and think he is overrated...
Take care...
Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
Are you Canuck fans aware you don't have the cap $ to sign Boeser? LOL. Canucks are wasting so much cap on crap it's not funny.

BTW< Islanders don't have the cap for Marner anymore. LOL. They wasted it on Varlamov instead of keeping a Vezina finalist.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
I didn’t say I’d sign him for one year. It would be a multi year deal for sure. You don’t give up 4 1st rounders for one year of a guy. That would be beyond asinine. Thing is Vancouver isn’t positioned well enough yet. If we had a couple more young pieces in place I’d think about it but we still have too many holes and obviously not enough cap space atm.rikster wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:09 amSo you'd sign him for 1 year and give up 4 first round picks on a hope and prayer that you can resign him?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 12:38 pm Marner is worth 11 or 12. Boeser has produced nowhere near what Marner has and he isn’t nearly as good a player. Petterson in the other hand may get there. Dubas screwed up not extending him last summer.
No team is going to sign Marner to a one year 13 million dollar deal. Whoever cooked that rumour up is huffing paint thinner out of a rag..

The current cap numbers are based on 25 players signed Einstein. They will carry 23. They will have the cap to sign Boeser.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
Puckpedia shows the Canucks with 24 contracts and $8.5 in space...In either case as you point out there is no problem getting Boeser signed...Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:22 amThe current cap numbers are based on 25 players signed Einstein. But we should all hope that the leaves get Marner signed to a reasonable contract because this is an "as compared to" salary system as much as its a hard cap system....
And we should all give a big kudos to Wilson in San Jose for getting Timo Meier signed to a reasonable contract who is a good comparison to Boeser...
Take care...

Totally agree with your point about Meier. Doug Wilson is a smooth operator down in San Jose. Much like how he played the game. Thing is, doesn’t four years take Boeser straight to UFA? I’m unsure.

Boeser's biggest issue is health. His production is great.
Mitch did have a big roadblock his 1st 2 years from Babcock. Despite last season being his 3rd year, it was actually Miytch's 1st as a full-time top 6 forward.

Sorry I forgot. Assists and two way play don’t matter to you since your experience playing any team sports growing up was so limited.RoyalDude wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:01 amBoeser - 2018 - 62 games - 29 goals 26 assistsBlob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:20 amrikster wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:09 amSo you'd sign him for 1 year and give up 4 first round picks on a hope and prayer that you can resign him?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 12:38 pm Marner is worth 11 or 12. Goes to show the ability of the TO media to inflate its players values, not to mention Marner's game so far hasn't translated to the playoffs...
Regarding Meier, I think you're right Blob that the contract takes him to UFA status, but that's post the new CBA and I'm not opposed to a 4 year deal if it keeps the #'s down...
Risk either way ...

Hey Doc, I’m starting to wonder if the Canucks are Blobs most despised team in the NHL? I can’t decide if he is a leaves fan, or a Flames fan. Or both? Seems like he hates everything to do with the Canucks???
