Flames will probably try to underpay Johnny Gaudreau, who knows how that'll go.
One can only hope the answer is "Badly" :D
He's probably their best player, so they gotta pay him eventually, hope it's a overpay for the American. :D

Hulder has apparently signed with the Dallas Stars. 1yr $2M.

Guess the Canucks wisely decided to keep the cap space for a potential trade down the road.

Top two needs for the team, a top 6 winger (preferably with some size) and a QB dman.

jvr+gardiner?

Yes, waiting is good.

Do you think we could acquire either james or jake or both without giving up too much?

TL;DR - a trade between these two teams would be pretty complicated with contracts/ntc's so it's a deal that would take months to work out, like Edler + Hansen + ___ for JVR + Gardiner + ___.

If you're bored can continue reading on here....:D

They'd probably prefer tanev + probably hansen, so they can solidify their defense with that deal.
We downgrade on defense, but offensively we'd improve.

Upon further investigation - Gardiner is a LD, so in a perfect world we'd deal Edler instead, then Gardiner - Tanev could play together. And they can have an Edler - Reilly pairing, a much better top defensive pair compared to last season - I think the leaves had Hunwick & Marincin playing with Reilly at times Gardiner, but both aren't that great chemistry wise I think with MR. http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/maple ... nsive-play

And Reilly is playing on his offside, so I bet they'd like to move him back to LD and with Tanev they'd form a dominant #1 pairing.

Gardiner is a fancy stats darling - good shot suppression and creating offense.
JVR has only two years left then is a UFA, but he's the perfect 2nd line LW we need, even though he doesn't play a chippy game, he has size and skills, plus he could re-sign if in 2017/18 he and Boeser create some American chemistry and the team is doing well.

But as some will point out Toronto probably wants to get younger, Edler might not to move out west and JB said he wasn't dealing Hansen thanks to his intangibles and good contract.

JVR might not be a bad idea. There has been the odd occasion I've seen him pretty angry.
I very much remember when Babcock's Wings were playing us a few years back, hearing how he thought Edler was a great D-man.
Wonder if would still be interested. Who knows, maybe Edler admires him as a coach and would waive?
Hell, so little hockey right now, I wonder too much.
But I am looking forward to seeing how Babcock attempts to transition back to being a winning coach from a losing on purpose one ;)

There's a few toronto specialists here @cc, they probably know whats up.

Yeah ever since Detroit euro scout Håkan Andersson wanted Edler at the draft, they have always been linked to Alex Edler, so it's not surprising to hear about that with Babcock.
The Vancouver Canucks, through scout Thomas Gradin, got word of Edler, and the former Canucks star made the trek to see him play in what then-general manager Dave Nonis called a “glorified beer league.” Vancouver, hearing whispers the Detroit Red Wings were also interested, made a trade with the Dallas Stars for a future draft pick to move up and get Edler in the third round (91st overall). It was an aggressive bet on an unknown entity who had been seen only once by only one team scout – a wager on Gradin’s “gut feeling.”

At the draft in Raleigh, Nonis said: “Smooth skater, big guy. He needs some time for sure, but in terms of raw skill, he’s got quite a bit of it.”
Interesting tidbit about Hakan on Edler.
Six years later Andersson was almost certain he was the only scout with a fix on defenseman Alexander Edler, then playing for Jämtlands HF, a senior team in what amounted to a glorified beer league in northern Sweden. To avoid an unnecessary six-hour drive from his home, Andersson called the team’s coach to make sure Edler would be in the lineup that night in an end-of-season game. Sure, Andersson was told, come on up. But the coach tipped off an agent in Stockholm, who faxed other Swedish scouts that the Red Wings were interested in Edler. “Biggest mistake of my career,” Andersson says of that phone call. Thomas Gradin, the Canucks’ European scout, saw Edler, and at the 2004 draft Vancouver traded up in the third round to take him, six spots before Detroit’s pick. Edler has played 551 NHL games and has twice reached double digits in goal scoring.

JVR is a big weenie.

Gardiner is a smaller one.

Leafers say they're great... but notice Leafers are always throwing them into trade deals.

JVR is coming back from his second major injury to his left foot.

Gardiner had a fluke season fancy-stat-wise IMO.

I hate them both with a passion (especially Gardiner).

But carry on... :D

When in doubt, just don't trade with Toronto. Nothing good goes in, or comes out of Toronto

The Canucks wisely decided to keep the cap space. Get off the bath salts. Elmer probably offered 3 years at 3.5 million and HUDLER "wisely" said , yeah no I'll go to BIG D. Nobody wants to play here Skyrocket.

That said I'm happy Jiri is in Big D and not here

Wow. I think Florida just got fleeced.. Unless there was an issue in the dressing room forida is solving, or the rest of the planet is wrong about Crouses potential, and they are selling high...
