It's not just masks, the US have basically stopped shipments of things like respiratory Mëds too.
For the masks, Canada is being forded to try and get them from, you guessed it, China.

Last night one US news site had a story criticizing 3M for exporting masks and with Trump's "America 1st" philosophy I knew it would happen. How can you blame him. His citizens are dieing and the healthcare system is a shambles. County health authorities are saying one thing, State Health departments another and the Feds are eating shit over it all.

Trudidiot may have grown a pair of balls this morning when he mentioned how many Canadian nurses work in Detroit and have been allowed to cross the border daily as essential services.

Reality, look for 3M to divert shipments from other plants.

Because of a once in a hundred year pandemic we should start producing critical equipment domestically? There's a lot of stuff that could be put on the critical list, and all of it would be more expensive. And we'd be paying for it through increased taxes.

Might be easier just to create and manage a stockpile of these items.

The trend seems to have the frequency of these communicable diseases increasing rather than following a historical 100 year rotation so it would definitely be in the average canadians best interest to have a critical requirement list that includes basics like masks or respirators made in Canada.

Not talking about everything right out of dollar tree just essential medical equipment. The bargain hunters should still be able to find cheap, lead infused plastic junk in every town
