No way Guds signs 4.5 for 6

Why's that BoS, are you thinking more or less?BladesofSteel wrote:No way Guds signs 4.5 for 6
You're talking about a GM that pays a 3rd line centre 4.4 million , a number 6 damn 3.6 million and a 4th line slug 2.65 million . I'll be thrilled if Ignitowski can get him for that price. He isn't exactly known as a shrewd negotiator, though the Tanev and Baertschi contracts are ok.BladesofSteel wrote:No way Guds signs 4.5 for 6

We're paying Horvat 4.4 and Trymakin 3.6?!??
When did I miss that?!??
Two things Guds has that your two examples don't boast, nastiness and Captain potential. While it's hard to put a number on these qualities, they are something every team desires on their blue line, and moreover Vancouver sorely lacks.SKYO wrote:Why's that BoS, are you thinking more or less?BladesofSteel wrote:No way Guds signs 4.5 for 6
A defensive specialist only has so much leverage, most comparables are putting up much more points, the best comp I can find is Hjalmarsson @ $4.1M per, next is Tanev @ $4.45M per.
So yeah in between those would suffice, I guess I was just taking into account UFA years, & remembering when Hamhuis got $4.5M per when he signed here as a UFA.

Skyo, I have had similar thoughts with Bo. Lock him up early, and relatively cheaply, and if he's still a stud in 8 years, he can be extended. I like it better than a bridge contract, and then an 8 year extension that takes him to 33 or 34, where he may or not be worth it for the last few years of the contract.SKYO wrote: But I think for Horvat, maybe JB/TL might think about getting creative with Bo, with two options, either go long term 8 years @ $5M-$5.3M ish (taking him to 30 years of age) or bridge him 2-3 years (as I believe a 4 year contract next season would bring him to UFA).
With how Bo Horvat plays and how pro he is, I think this is the only time I think a 8 year contract would be a wise move long term for the Canucks.

Go to the deck of a good pub, and find a waitress.
Give him 2 years. Takes him to 23. Then extend 8 and reassess at 31.Tciso wrote:Skyo, I have had similar thoughts with Bo. Only problem with that is his ELC expires when he's 22, so a 2 yr contract would take him to 24 and he could be dominating by then as he's played pretty well the latter half of this past season, and I think with a bit of sheltered minutes with Sutter here he could flourish points wise getting somewhat protected starts.Mëds wrote:Give him 2 years.
