You can’t get more hockey than losing a couple chiclets and scoring a generational goal. Jack Hughes, good at hockey.

Fantastic game; Canada had the better of the play for the 2d and 3d, but Hellebuyck shows great goaltending is the great equalizer.

Funny to see how players respond under immense pressure. Quinn Hughes and Z Werenski changed absolutely nothing. Americans survived repeated buckling by Guentzel and McAvoy. Sullivan didn’t seem to realize these guys were playing terribly — it was so obvious J Hughes or Larkin or Keller would have been better with Matthews and Boldy. And that Faber was playing one of the best games of his life and would probably be a far better partner for QH.

As for the Canadians, a well played game but think they’d have been better off splitting the top line from the get go. Not that there was any way to outcoach supernatural goaltending…..

Makes me realize he never wanted to play in Canada.

And Hellebuyck wrapping himself with the flag? That superstar would never play in Canada.

Vancouver is/was a train wreck. If it makes you feel better to say it was inevitable, fine?

Needed to hold possession as others mentioned, and capitalize on the chances we had. Goaltending wound up being the difference which was the chatter pre-tournament.
Yep. Hellybuck finally had his moment. He was outstanding. I thought Binnington was solid - don't think he cost us today but Helly was the difference.
Helleybuck saved his hero cape for international play. Winnipeg fans seeing that he CAN deliver in big games must be wondering if he’ll ever be motivated to play that way for his club.

Helleybuck also didn’t tell management - and later fans and the hockey world - that he had no intention of signing, and then engineers a trade southward.

Defend Quit all you like, and hey - he’s exercising his rights as an upcoming FA, and he decided to ditch the team and fan-base that believed in him and bent over backwards for him.

At least Helleybuck is half-way loyal that way.

Failure to capitalise on chances was their downfall.
How many ex-canucks were in that game?
It's all about the lowered expectations

No one to blame though really. Had our best 3 out there and came up short.
I've decided to blame Mc, Mac and Mak. No not really.
It isn't undeserved but lucky for the Americans.
Even it would have been for Canada in a 3 on 3.
Surprisingly the Tkachuks played a quite disciplined game.
Afterall amazing games at the Olympics, my favourite was Can vs Cze.
