I agree, not a bad idea Barnett, keep it in the mid size smaller Canadian cities, smaller buildings and more teams. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal wouldn’t lose any sleep if they left. And please lose the CFL rules ffs.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 10:18 am Honestly the CFL would be better off if they expanded it and played the games in smaller stadiums of 20,000 seats or thereabouts. Stick a team in the Martimes, one in the Okanagan and another in Quebec or Ontario. Maybe one on the Island. Get up to 14 - 16 teams that’s what they should be shooting for. Go to four down, cut down the ocean sized end zone and get rid of the Canadian content. Pay the best players regardless of where they are from.

Probably not but I think we'd do as good as Seattle is now, maybe a bit better.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 10:07 am
It was a stupid decision. But there’s no way anyone’s playing MLB games in that dump. And no sorry Mick it isn’t a hotbed for baseball here. No way this city could buy 35,000 tickets x 81. Not a chance.
Definitely better than Montreal. No one's going to ever build a stadium. Really no such thing as BB/ football, soccer anymore.

CTV Toronto is your source??? TOTALLY objective... there’s been one murder - ONE - here since I’ve been here in Riga. How many have there been in Toront-hole since the fiscal year started??? I question the rigorousness of the study. Funny thing is even with all the Russians here, their obnoxious arrogance doesn’t even come close to the loathsome ways of Torontonians. You know it’s bad when people prefer Russian imperialists to your fellow municipal citizens.BigTuna wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 7:19 amDo you know how safe Toronto is? Do you think people in other Canadian cities have Toronto envy? They can't stop talking about us, especially Vancouver.
Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread
They don't envy toronto, they are cheering for Canada. They are not cheering for the city of toronto.
The area around toronto looks a little bit nice in the last week of september with the colorful foliage.
Other than that, ick

Lol,uhhhh yeah/no. We are quite happy out here in the beautiful natural surroundings in the Pacific Northwest. We just marvel at your self-centered universe, same theory as “love is blind” Outside of some tall buildings there is fuck all to do there other than eat steaks and drink spirits in restaurants downtown

Walking through leaves and admiring them in the fall? Shi-ite I’m moving there, sounds so much better than a city nestled between endless mountain ranges and and the endless Pacific Ocean.

But in Marner's case yes, 8 years. Remember, he's a hometown kid who wants to be there long term if he can.Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 8:07 pmOn an 8 year contract?
Remember, he'll prolly sign a 5 year contract so Leaves can keep the AAV down (like Matthews and Nylander).
If they'll sign for $10M-per on a 5 year deal, they want $11M-per on a 6 year, $12M+ on a 7 year, $13M+ on an 8 year.
Roughly speaking.
He'd probably rather play for his hometown team, but he won't take less money.
His agent has made that clear and that his camp wants to recoup for not getting max bonuses on his ELC.![]()

Didn't notice that my random imaginary player's number ended up at $13M/8!
No it's not possible anymore.Mëds wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 6:19 am Question for ya Doc (if you know).....
Chara's last contract saw his cap hit drop in the last season of the contract because the Bruins took higher cap hits on him in the first years of his deal. So his actual salary became his cap in each year. Is that still possible for a team to do? Like sign a guy for 8 years and increase his AAV by $X every season?
Chara got that under the old "Kovalchuk Rule", which was done away with in 2012.

CBA 50.8(b)(iv) on page 285Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 10:55 pmAs long as they sign him by July 1st they can give him 8 years. His contract isn't up until June 30th of any given year so if they trade him at the draft his final year and Arizona gets a deal done before his contract expires then ya, they can give him 8 years so stick with your original opinion.....Strangelove wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:39 pmI edited it as you were typing...
AND EDIT: It'd have to be by TDD for an 8 year, so let's just make that a 7 lol.
An SPC with a term of greater than seven (7) years, provided, however, that a Club may sign a Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8) years if that Player was on such Club's Reserve List as of and since the most recent Trade Deadline.
But hey, Matthews doesn't care, he just wants to go home!

Personally it's like watching paint dry. But people would come out.
I Saw a stat somewhere. 3 hour game, 18 actual minutes of action. How people can watch that as a sport and not fall asleep is beyond me.
