I don't mind politicians being rich (assuming they got it legitimately), but if that means they are out of touch with the citizens and businesses they serve then it's a problem.

Trump has released a statement on last evening's dinner with Trudeau. Discussed drugs, fentanyl mainly, entering the US, some immigration, defence, energy, economy and said both have work to do.

Absent was any praise for cooperation that Trump typically delivers on agreements.

My take, the sit down did not go well. I suspect Trudeau talked about things but had nothing for action to show.

Isn't trump just going tell people that fentanyl is bad for you?

Trump might have toned down his rhetoric to avoid a repeat of the Mexican president's rebuke on X.

Nah. Trump has corporate buddies with interests in Mexican manufacturing.....none of his friends have interests in Canada under Trudeau. He's not toning anything down because of something Gilligan will put on X.

Also there's no Biden-Trudeau achievements he can claim as his own.

There were no Biden Trudeau achievements.

Trudeau instead plunger Canada into massive debt to compete with the battery/EV manufacturing plants subsidies Biden was offering.

You can bet Trump is laughing at that one as he cancels EV mandates and watches the market collapse.

So what do you figure he's discussed with Musk on that front?

He's discussed it openly for months and Elon is on record that Tesla did not need subsidies or mandates. Elon has said repeatedly that the internal combustion engine and petroleum products are required in the future.

I keep hearing pundits and politicians talking about better controlling the land border with the US.

In my mind it is better control of who has come in under loose controls and who is coming in by air under refugee and student claims.

Start by evening those already in and tightening the screening of those applying to come in.

Kalistani, Palestinian, IRGC, Triads have had free reign in Canada.

As details emerge from the dinner table discussion, it sounds like Trudeau showed up unprepared for his government to take action. Sticking point is the balance of trade.

Trump, you have a $100B trade imbalance, stop ripping us off or we will impose a 25% tariff.

Trudeau, If you do that you'll cripple our economy.

Trump, if your economy can't function without ripping us off $100B then maybe you should become the 51st State. You can still be leader, you'd be a fine governor though you probably prefer the title Prime Minister.

A few others at the table also made jokes about Canada becoming a State.

In short, Justin was so weak that he has made Canada the butt of their jokes.

Ripoff lol. More Trump bluster. The USA has a trade deficit with most countries (notably China) because they don't manufacture much anymore, and we don't want to buy enough of what they do make. Instead of fixing his manufacturing he wants us to sell them less. How exactly does he expect Trudeau to do that?
