That would be just fine by me. Anything at this point is better than the nothing we get for him July 1st.
In Okinawa, all Miyagi know two things: hockey and karate.

Now the wings have to decide if they will trade Datsyuk' cap hit along with a roster player and a high pick to team or just eat his cap hit for nothing and probably miss the playoffs for the first time in 25 years.
Datysuk’s contract still could go to a low-revenue team, which would use it to help achieve the mandatory salary floor in the NHL, the Wings, however, likely would have to send a regular player, a high prospect, draft choices or something significant to reward a club for essentially doing them a favor.

Moving Datsyuk’s contract there along with the necessary additional player or two might be attractive, if the Wings get something more than just cap space in return.

That move would make even more sense if the Red Wings were assured they could use the cap space freed up by ridding themselves of Datsyuk to sign Steven Stamkos, a free agent with the Lightning and one of the best goal scorers in the league.

That was true even before the Hurricanes were able to finagle the talent-proven Teuvo Teravainen from the Blackhawks in return for also taking Bryan Bickell and his ridiculously inflated $4 million salary cap hit off Chicago’s ledgers.

Any team approached about receiving Datsyuk’s cap hit in a trade now knows to demand considerable talent in return.

If we know we can't Stamkos or maybe he wasn't even in the plans in the canucks war room, perhaps we could dangle hansen for 7.5M cap hit of datsyuk for a year, plus get their 1st&Pulk's?
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Blackhawks convince Nick Schmaltz to forego his Junior season and sign a 3-year deal. So they lose TT, but gain a their top prospect.

So first Drake Caggiula, and now Schmaltz. With two-thirds of UND's top line gone, will Brock bolt next?

Doubtful.

Murray is a genius. A really good young d man signing for pretty much the same amount that Elmer pays his third liner. Competent management is a foreign concept to many on this board.

Same weight as Brandon Sutter , but five inches shorter. He scores more points too. And he's a d man to boot.

MURRAY IS A FUCKING GENIUS!!!!!

Would Vatanen make the puny hockey team list you put together not too long ago, if he was a Canuck? The one with McCann on it?

Vatanen would be a top 4 d man on any team.

But would you put him on that list of tiny players you put together? Hell even Hunter Smurfkaruk is bigger than him. Just curious, since you keep harping on about size and how important it is to you? 5'-10" - 183 lbs

As long as half the team isn't soft , stringy weak players who cares? I never said anything against having a few smaller, skilled guys on the team. Guys like Vatanen , Gallagher or Barrie are high end small skilled players. Guys like Vey, Granlund, Weber etc are barely NHL players. Huge difference. Sutter is a tall, stringy soft player who is average at best.

I can see Cam Fowler being moved. The Ducks will keep Hampus and Sami and they are stuck with Bieksa. Despres or Fowler are gone for sure. Montour and Theodore are young up and comers.

They are stuck with Bieksa. We are not which is an example of good management I think. A lot of times these choices are a crap shoot. You get a player and he does are does not work out. No one can be right any more than 70-80% if that. That would be a the top end of seeing the future from a management POV. The other end of looking into the future is summed up by Luc Bourdon. Who knew eh?

Right now I am optimistic Elmer will help us build our talent pool. He can be considered in the 70-80% in talent spotting. What we do with this talent is another thing all on its own. Maybe a new coach. Maybe a new GM a year or two away and they will take what we all want. A cup. Or..........we will all get on our motorcycles and go for a ride just like Luc.....who knows eh?

Whatever the result, as long as we win a cup I do not care how we get there. GO CANUCKS. :D :bounce:   :drunk: :bang:    :stupid:
