He’s starting to look like a genuine flake, for awhile you were just hoping he was an immature brat.
Not a huge fan of Finnish hockey players in general, they are a peculiar breed, you wish they were all like Sami Salo. Totally different than the Swedes.

If this is true (and the constant injuries point to it) it seems JB didn't do his homework at all on for this draft. I don't really consider him a prospect at this point, just an AHLer who might get an emergency call-up or be traded for another player who "needs a change of scenery". Either way, I won't be surprised if he never wears the Orca.

With that said, I say just relax on 21 yr old Juolevi, he'll be ok in time, he fits the teams systems of a puck possession team and OJ has a great pass, can setup players with superb vision and playmaking ability....Also he won't be needing a big 2nd contract, which saves on cap space down the road. Additionally his value isn't high as it is thanks to injuries, so sit tight and thank the gods Hughes is here to distract you - while OJ continues to develop into a future top 4 dman, cost controlled and likely plays superb NHL hockey 24-25 yrs of age till late 30's, get a good 8-10 years of awesome hockey in him at least.

He';s looking like a bust, but how much of this alleged non-training was due to injuries?

The Finn GM of Columbus BJ’s didn’t want to touch his fellow countrymen Puljujarvi and Juolevi with a 10’ dick when flake Finn no. 1 (Puljiarvi) was the consensus ranked 3rd overall and Flake Finn no. 2 Juolevi was highly regarded. I guess it takes a Finn to recognize a Flakey Finn like the Big Tuna Flakes - Virtanen. Ristolainen is a flakey Finn as well. Laine is a flake as well, a decent flake albeit.

They are more nomadic Russian/Viking in bred types than Nordic/Scandinavian. They are the sheep shagger potato peelers of the north

Everyone develops at a different pace. My only concern is that with the game trending younger, we won't see that "late 30's workhorse defender" as much anymore. Might shorten Joulevi's playing window, if he ever makes the show...

I was thinking something similar - you cannot compare the league when Salo entered to today. Not to say anyone is a bust but if you are not in the NHL by the time you are 22ish then you probably not be a top 6 forward or a top 3 defender. The league has changed a lot and it also means that GMs should no longer pay a UFA until he is mid 30's unless it is a cheap deal or the UFA's name is Crosby.

The guy was a top 5 pick four years ago. Most of the players picked in the first round of that draft have already become NHL regulars/ some of them very good players. In the grand scheme of things we’d have been ok picking Jakob Chychrun at 5.
