I'd do that too, HW. I'd even give him 6x4. 6 years is just too long for a guy like him though. Too old, and he'll start to slow in 3 or 4 years.

Hes only just turned 28. Still plenty of game left in him. He would be 34 by the end of it. You might have a minor decline but he will always be an asshole who creates space for his wimpy linemates.
Getting him in a stinky whale jersey at 28 makes VCR a much tougher team to play against. We would still get a few more years of the Sedins with possibly the type of winger they've always needed.

It's funny the people are saying Lucic is too old for a six year deal at 28. Brandon the Toothpick Sutter got a five year extension for 4.5 million on top of the year he had. He is built like a waif , is soft as butter and gets injured quite a bit ,but 90% of this board thought they was a wonderful contract.

Excellent point Blob. I don't know why but a LTC with Lucic scares me.

I like Lucic and I like big mean assholes, but I won't be choked if he does go somewhere else. This team is more than a couple ufa pieces away from competing let alone contending. If they don't get him go after guys like Brouwer, Mcginn, Ladd etc. At least they play the game hard. I have a bad feeling it's Loui Errikson that end up here. Not a terrible move but this team is wimpy as hell right now and some push back would be nice.

LOL last year when folks were saying it's "a wonderful contract"

... Sutter had only missed 3 games in his entire career!!

I guess Blob is now trying to say he knew Sutter was going to run into major injury problems last season!

Sutter is somewhat soft, but he's easily twice as hard as the limp bonino he replaced.

Blob compares a 27-year-old Sutter 5-year deal to a 28-year-old Lucic 6-year-deal.

Sutter's new contract will turn out to be a great one for your Vancouver Canucks.

As would a 6x$6 Lucic one.

Give Looch a front-loaded contract with a limited NTC in the last coupla years....

It was an excellent point. Signing a 30 point third line centre who is 6ft 3 and a buck eighty with all his gear on is dumb. He's butter soft, a career 50% in the dot and injury prone. It would have been fine at 2.5- 3.3 max . He's overpaid by 1.5- 2 million annually for what he provides.
