Picker of Cherries wrote: Sat Oct 04, 2025 2:55 pm No one put on waivers today by the Canucks. I believe someone said players had to be placed on waivers today if they were to be off the roster to meet tomorrow’s roster number. So it looks like Bains, Karlsson, Joseph will be on the roster. It’ll be the non-waiver players being juggled. That seem logical. It’s a long season. Keep the depth.
Sasson has been sent down to Abbotsford today. Also heading Abby are Tolopilo and Aman.
Bains is next....
Sigh.. and they have him up on the second line…

Like why?!?? Somebody is seeing something in him that I don’t.

Bains up in the top six, Mancini in Abby.

This kind of stuff is why I changed my prediction for the season.

Yeah, I don't get the Bains thing.

AHL player.

It's his ability to get in on the fore check and cause turnovers. He seems to be able to dig pucks out of the corners well and set up his linemates.

I have never liked his game that much but this year I've started to see the value in his ability to retrieve pucks and cause trouble in deep.

He's rangy, a bit like Geoff Courtnall. Megs in the A did the kid also have a decent half slapper off the rush?

Like, he did it once a game in every game I watched.

So ok, he is the 14th forward. Fine. But not a 2nd line guy..

In the AHL he's a magician with the puck in the offensive zone, but no. He lacks any kind of a shot.

He is an impact player in Abby.

Let's just see how he's deployed before we pick it apart. Wasn't he skating with Raty and O'Connor? That's more like the 4th no?

Meh.

If Hoglander is not out the discussion is likely moot.

I'm with MCP & Megs though.

But....

I shall defer to the Cuz patient, wait and see approach....

...(now, if Nils is healthy and this was at the expense of Cootes or Lekk....that is a different conversation..)

Hope to see Tops and Doc back.

Always enjoyed Tops post game analysis and his comments on the natural resource sector.

Bains is a tweener and I don't see it happening in the NHL. Karlsson and Sasson are tweeners at what they do well in the AHL, but also have attributes that might be used in the NHL in different roles. (Not sure either will ever push through in those roles, but I am close to sure that Bains will not).

IMO, it is pretty close to a no brainer to have only one of DEP, Mancini, Willander in Vancouver. That decision was more or less made when Joseph was signed. He will play "press box" as well as Mancini.... Waiver exempt guys don't need to be top 7/8 to make the team, they need to be demonstrably top 6 players, and if they are close to Forbert overall in terms of value for #6, understand that the think Forbert does marginally better is the PK, and that's enough to make a third pairing guy who sees 12 mins 5 on 5 a night stick as a regular in the starting line up.

It makes little sense to have young players play 2/3rds of the games for 15 minutes a night instead of 20 min plus every night in the AHL when they haven't totally dominated that league. There will be injuries, Mancini will see plenty of the NHL this year and his game during those call ups (not preseason exhibition hockey) will determine whether he sticks around.

With Bains in the lineup, I am more than willing to offer Roslovic a $2mil 1 year contract. We are short a winger, and a center.

Topper was so overwhelmed by my in-depth and intellectual take on American politics he had to take a timeout. Cannot speak for Doc.

I maintain he just can't admit he was wrong on EP25!
