Luongo kind of had to be re-acquired for mega bucks or he was out the door.
Call it creativity or stupidity, I've heard it both ways by many.
Luongo - "My Contract Sucks" after Gillis failed to trade him at the Trade Deadline
Yup! That's what he said. You are correct.

Stompin those big size 14s when he didn't think he was getting what he wanted.

Settle down, old boy;
Luongo - fiasco delay on trading while trying to cater to roberto's wims until the coach couldn't take the pandering anymore
Erhoff -add in Brad Lukowich's contract
Hamhuis - not a trade, a UFA signing because Hamhuis wanted Vancouver over Philli and Pittsburgh.
Samuelson - another UFA signing, not a trade
Malholta - another UFA signing, not a trade
Torres - another UFA signing, not a trade
Higgins - 1/2 of the best trade deadline deals in Canuck history
Lapier- 1/2 of the best trade deadline deals in Canuck history
Ballard: was ok when he first got here. - a trade that went sideways for both teams involved
Try again Fred
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I meant acquisitions, not just straight trades, Cookie Duster!
The point is, was, that bunch all had a part in the second closest we've come to a cup hoist, right?

I kind of like the set-up and all of it's glory provided by the previous regimes to Gillis as something similar to BJ MacDonald scoring on a pass from Gretzky. Why did MacDonald score all those goals while playing on Gretzky's line?

And now Benning is a lone sniper winger and the previous regime to him had the passing abilities of legendary stalwart centre and ex- Canuck - Stone Hands Denis Pederson? Remember him?

Dude! Are you Dave Pratt in the real world?
Did Gillis get you fired, many moons ago?
So much anger!
Hey, I didn't like the guy much either but it's OK, he's gone now. ;)

Let me break this down...

Mike Gillis's Canucks-consistently competing

-gets no credit because cheeseburger Nonis was the only reason he had his team contending year in year out

Jim Benning's Canucks-consistently sucking

-absolved of all responsibility because everything is Gillis's fault

Watching the coil this year and if the canux had fixed old Zassasian rather than flush the asset for nothing they would now have a tough as nails hard skating 3rd liner with a decent set of hands....easily would be the toughest player on the team.
Sort of like flushing a good young prospect in Forsling for whats-that-scrubs-name-again...

Benning has fucked up way too much shit for the canucks to be deserving of the sainthood he has received from certain 'scorners around these parts.

I know too many fucked up drug addicts and alcoholics, the one common link, they all have to hit rock bottom before admitting they have a problem, like exactly what happened to Zack in Montreal. How is that the Canucks fault? Drug addicts and drunks all like to tell you what you want to hear before hitting rock bottom "no more, I'm better now...blah, blah, blah." He's damaged goods regardless.

Did Gillis acquire the most important part of the core that helped mask his true worth? No. The Sedins, Kesler, Salo, Bieksa, Luongo, Schneider, Hansen, Edler, Raymond, Burrows etc., all in the prime of their careers came from previous mgmts

And the cheeseburgler inherited all his assets and knowledge from Burke...who inherited whatever from Keenan or Quinn... Blah blah blah

Gillis made a couple smokin trades and blew a couple. His contract work was top shelf. If the league hadnt have bum fucked us on Luongos extention and the wops hadn't have meddled he would probably still be the GM.
Although he couldnt draft to save his life...

Shhhh let the dude carry on about the Cheeseburgular. It's almost like he has a crush on Randy. Maybe he should change his handle to Mr Lahey.

"Previous mgmts"

You not notice the 'S' at the end of mgmts?

Blind fool

Give it a rest THE previous mgmtS set him up beautifully. He was fail safe for the first few seasons, but the farce that he was was eventually found out when he actually had to make changes. Just awful changes and drafting. Ruined this once proud organization. QUINN is rolling in his grave because of Gillis shite work here

All he had to do was sit there and look drunk, miserable and hungover like he always did, but like I said he was found out when he could no longer hide behind the previous regimeS fine, fine work

Contenders go into win now mode. They move picks for hail marys when their teams are close...like pitt and vcr under gillis
Benning seemingly moves 2nds when the team sucks and needs to rebuild....rather than acquire more picks. Why the fuck would he add that obviously crappy Clendenning scrub for a promising young player in Forsling when the team just needs to accept they suck and rebuild?
Blind fool indeed

Contenders move picks for veterans with expiring contracts.

At least Benning for the most part moved picks for younger guys.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
