I doubt Edmonton does a deal for a goaltender like Miller.
Among goaltenders with 30 or more GP, Miller is 9th in SV% and 17th in GAA. Talbot is 6th and 9th, respectively. Bringing in Miller sends a subconscious message to Talbot that they don't think he's a lock to get the job done in the playoffs.....no matter how they spin it, that perception is there. Considering that this is Talbot's first year as a starter, in which he has good numbers and a winning record, it would be a bad move to screw with his confidence. Goalies have a funny way of affecting team chemistry when they aren't in a good head-space.
LA, on the other hand, has Budaj playing extremely well in relief of the injured Quick. IF Quick comes back, he's solid enough in his career that he would not be phased in the least by the addition of Miller for the remainder of the season and playoffs. Miller would be a happy family man and probably find himself in a good place both on and off the ice. It's a good fit. But the price might not be right for LA. If Quick suffers another setback, I would fully expect to see Miller land in LA for the rest of the season.
If the Kings do see this as one of their last years to load up and go for it all, then Burrows may be a better fit than Miller for them.
No playoff team is brining Miller in to start. Edmonton has been riding Talbot like a mule. He's played nearly 300 minutes more than the next goalie. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to bring in a guy to back him up, handle a few more games down the stretch, and hold the fort if injury hits. If Talbot goes down, so does the Oilers season. Maybe they'd rather Markstrom?
Budaj's in the same boat. 3rd most minutes in the NHL. Quick is supposed to be back mid-March, and the cap is a concern, so they aren't likely to be giving up much. I'm not seeing many landing spots for Miller. Teams won't be lining up to take him off our hands.
Seems like Anaheim is comfortable with Gibson, but maybe we do Miller (50%) for Bernier and a 2nd or 3rd? I think Linden should be convincing these owners to get creative and "buy" some draft picks by taking back bad contracts or retaining.

Was Vrbata's deal not a modified NTC?
The Canucks, by now, should have Hansen's list of 8 teams and Miller's 5 teams in hand.
Burrows has talked openly of moving on to try and win a Stanley Cup.
I don't see many impediments to getting a deal done for those guys, even if it's just 2nd/3rd/4th rounders coming back.
The other, more ballsy, thing to do would be to guage interest in Chris Tanev. His NTC doesn't kick in til next year, and he'd bring back a ton.

Vrbata admitted he supplied a list of teams he knew would not want him.

Not too sure about Hansen because the list becomes void after 45 days.
(maybe it makes more sense to trade him after the X-draft, in the summer)
I'm pretty sure Jimmy already knows which teams Miller would choose
... and until one of those 5 teams makes a substantial offer there is no rush.
(likely none of those teams make an offer at all)
And Miller had a bad experience last time he was traded, he might very well pull a Vrbata.

Burrows has sent mixed messages in that regard.

Well there
are impediments, personally I feel Burr is the only one of those that gets moved at the TDL.

When his NTC kicks in, Tanev can still be traded to 22 teams.
(he supplies a list of 8 teams to which he will
not accept a trade)
Don't really need to worry about trading him before the NTC kicks in
... as there would still be a
huge market for a player like Tanev.

As Doc said, Vrbata did supply his list, of teams he knew would not want him. He was proud of it too.
And what part of, during the up coming five day break Benning will talk to all of his trade protected players. IF Benning decides to sell, and we still don't know if he will, the upcoming break will be used to discuss his options re his trade protected players.

Yar, our guys tried, but can't seem to take advantage of any opportunities. Let the bidding begin Jimbo. Don't wait too long like last year b4 all the interested dance partners are all gone.

Yup and with the bye-week off, what a good time to sell.

It will feels strange watching Burrows in the playoffs.
Wonder how far he'll get?

Throughout last season lots of posters mentioned they couldn't let Hamhuis or Vrbata walk for nothing. Re-up them, or trade them, a team as desperate for prospects/youth can't allow pending UFA's to walk for nothing.
Vrbata's poor season and Hamhuis' injury only underscore the danger of waiting until the last minute to make a decision.
You're ASSuming these two would have been good with getting traded earlier.

I feel confident in assUMING these two would

Smoke rising.
Sources says Alexandre Burrows and his agent will meet in Montreal this week to discuss his future. #Canucks (per: @DhaliwalSports)
LeBrun says Hansen is the #canucks player generating the most interest arnd the league. He says Van shld want a prospect rather than pick

Yeah, it would be nice if we could snag a top prospect for Hansen instead of a pick in a shitty draft class. I see a 2nd or a 3rd for Burrows.
Miller is the wild card, Lindenning have to get a feel from him over this 5 day break on whether he is interested in re-signing here. If not they should cut him loose at the deadline, but would still like to resign him
I think we are going to see a D-man get traded, one of Sbisa or Gudbranson. I think I may be changing my tune on Edler being traded, could happen. The emergence of Tryamkin has opened the door on trading some defenseman we otherwise wouldn't even consider.

After the Stone deal, we might have to retain salary for Sbisa to be dealt.
50% on burrows for sure, that's a given, unless we take back a shittier UFA player who is making 3m+ per.
