Oh, and Meriläinen looked solid. I already have more faith in him than Tankinen, but we we'll to play ol' Kevin a lot more. ;)

Well so far this season is going as planned…..except for the W/L columns.

Although, I do like that our W’s are against Edmonton and Calgary.

We may now proceed on a 3 game skid, then beat the Rangers (for Cornuck) and then hop back on the one way ticket to the basement for 8 more games until we put it together to embarrass Toronto.

2 more Dupont points for the Flames
I take solace in the fact that the game's 3 stars were all under 25.

Did you see the hit late in the game on Parekh? He laid him out. https://x.com/Hockey_Robinson/status/21 ... 77755?s=20

He's like Alexander Barkov with a mean streak now. Serious Selke candidate.

He shook himself up with that one.

DOC had to make sure he was OK enough for a high five after the ensuing goal.

Parehk isn't gonna survive long watching himself stick handle through the neutral zone. He got corked at least 4/5 times last night doing that shit

Lots of fight in these kids. They don't give up and look to have the juice late which is nice

Topper what do you think of the evolution of DPete? His mobility has improved in year 3 I think. Still needs a little more strength to play that game but I'm encouraged

Not so much with Willander. He really should be in the A still

The pass Willander made to DP on his goal was NHL level.

I don’t actually want to see more than slight (but reassuring) development in our 3 young dmen this year. Too big a leap means a lower pick. It’s a rebuild. The idea of not rushing the kids is great, and they are sticking to that right now in Rebuild Year One. Where I want to see them put it together with some big steps is towards the end of the 2027-28 season. Still looking to strike at a top-10 pick, but very clearly telling us that the course is correct.

These flashes are good, exactly what we want to see…..and then obviously the frequency of this glimpses ideally increase to be the regular.
