He had a crap start to the NHL season last year behind a defence of Desharnais, Juulsen, Friedman and Soucy, but he worked on tracking the puck better and his shots from distance in Abbotsford and looked great in their championship run. He moves exceptionally well in close - that’s his strength. He should be the Canucks backup now, not only for the cap savings but his higher potential upside. He has a lower floor than Lankinen, but I think the Canucks made a mistake disregarding his potential ceiling.

Canucks won’t win every game, I didn’t expect much in yesterday’s game especially with BB gone again. Chytil hurt after such a good start. Any team losing 2 of top 6 plus playing on the other side of the coast and their crazy road trip is bound to lose a crap game.
Lankinen didn’t have a stellar game as well.
I do see management trading our 1st once they confirm Chytil is hurt long term.
Canucks will win the next game and all will be well again.

Agreed, set up for a lack of success in this one.
So much travel - so many injuries. I'm sure it plays with the player's minds, even early in the season as last year likely still weighing them down as well.
Though, read a stat that made me feel slightly better:
"They [Canucks] have 3,391 points across the regular season and playoffs, which is 1,495 more points than Crosby on his own. Toss in Evgeni Malkin’s 1,536 career points, and those two players have outscored the entire Canucks’ lineup all on their own." - Daniel Wagner
Yep.

I'd rather beat Dallas and Washington and lose to penguins and Predators than the other way round

Can anyone explain why the Petey/Garland/DeBrusk line played so little last night?
Genuine question.
Genuine question.
