Not bad. It seems though, that he will wind up regretting the decision. In hindsight, he could have filled the net for another year playing against boys, and scouts would have been none the wiser.
Yeah, maybe, time will tell, lest we forget Bedard was a bust only 4 months ago.
Maybe he slides down the pick chart and we catch a draft day break for once.

Watched the 3rd period of the Penn State game last night.
McKenna looked pretty dynamic to me.
Has a helluva release.
Bedard like from what I saw.
The woe is Gavin posts may be a trifle early....
He’s good, for sure. This season will be a blessing in disguise for him for the experience of playing against older players, sorta like being thrown to the wolves. He will benefit more from playing in the NCAA rather than staying in the dub this season. I wouldn’t pass on him picking 1st OA.
Could this be the draft when the Canucks actually end up picking 1st when there is a potential generational forward (McKenna) who could be sitting there for us?
If you ain’t on board with the full tank in 2026 then there is something seriously afoul with you.
If the tank is on and Quinn is shopped maybe you put the focus on the return parts from a Quinn trade and go all in on forwards and then set your sites on Verhoeff? Apparently the man child is most ready of the 2026 prospects to play in the NHL.

If you're management and you trade away Quinn, you had best hope you get lucky enough in the lottery to snag Verhoeff. It's the only way you'll get in in spitting distance of replacing what Quinn brings to the ice.
I'm not sure Quinn is replaceable, I agree that he is arguably the best player we have ever had; but if Verhoeff can profile as a Weber-type of 1D (or, better, a Pronger-esque 1D) that would ease the sting of the loss.
If we can stay in top 5 after the lottery, that would keep us in - McKenna LW, Stenberg LW/RW, Verhoeff RS D-man, Belchetz LW, Lawrence C territory, which would go a long way to improving our pipeline.

They take the best player available. No repeats of 2014, 2016, 2019.
The top 5 this year is lights out. Lights out. Just get in that mix.
Mckenna
Verhoeff
Belchetz
Stenberg
Lawrence
Start tossing shit off the barge.
“I don’t care what you and some other poster were talking about”
Mckenna. Stenberg or Belchetz would look great on Cootes wing. Verhoeff would stack the right side - Hronek, Willander and Vethoeff. Lawrence along with Cootes cleans up our future down the middle. Can’t go wrong with any of these 5.

Speaking of NCAA rookie seasons - Porter Martone is having himself a helluva season.
The Flyers must be overjoyed with his dominant performance at Michigan State this year. Just wow.
Roger McQueen is really picking it up now at Providence. And second-rounder Malcolm Spence is going great guns at Michigan. I still don't know why he slipped in the draft.
Vaclav Nestrasil is thriving at UMass as well. Only Cayden Lindstrom seems to be busting at the moment. Jack Ivanovic has been great for Michigan in goal.
BTW, two of our late picks from 2025, Wilson Bjork and Mathew Lansing, have had good showings so far at Colorado College and Quinnipiac.

Lidstrom missed an entire season and more from back surgery. Lost a lot of development time but I wonder if he fully recovers from the back issue. Could be damaged goods, unfortunately

How is Reschy looking?
Lindstrom is injured again, I'm reading. Groin this time. I haven't read much about Reschny, pro or con. He is putting up decent counting stats.
Jackson Smith has been really good for Penn State. And Gavin McKenna is stepping it up now.
