Raisin a stink...
But doesn’t this stark transparency undermine Canucks management’s negotiating position on trades?

"I'm not worried about that," he said, "because if we trade one of these players, we will trade them when we decide to, and when we get what we want. And if we don't, we won't trade one of them. Again, common sense."

It is difficult to see how any of this helps the Canucks.

But over more than three decades in NHL management — and after winning three Stanley Cups as a general manager — Rutherford has rarely been a loose cannon. He is usually purposeful and measured in what he does.

Maybe making the team more uncomfortable pushes players closer together. Or maybe making Miller more uncomfortable encourages him to further loosen his grip on the no-movement clause in his contract. Pettersson’s NMC starts next season.

"We'll deal with our team as normal as we can under these circumstances. And it's what I said earlier: If something makes sense for the Canucks (in a trade), we'll take a look at it, and if it doesn't, the players will stay and continue to try to work through this situation."

I’m too lazy to find the video. But there’s a clip of Petey Miller, Hronek and Hughes talking about the difference between BB and RT as coaches. In that clip Miller himself discusses that he is incapable of staying in his own lane essentially that he bitches at people he feels are not playing up to his standards.

The vibe around the team while JT Miller was gone was a lot more loose. Petterson played better but then so did everyone else. Maybe I miss remembering, but didn’t DeBrusk score a portion of his goals on that run?

JT Miller has been run off two other teams already. He also got sent home from the Canuck’s. Lastly, he had beef with Bo Horvat of all people.

I contend that Miller is the onboard terrorist. In addition to that, I also contend that the trade proposals are shit because other teams don’t really want him unless it’s on the cheap.

Rutherford: “if a centre goes out of here we have to get some kind of centre back but it’s not going to be the same as the centre going out. It might not even be a No. 2 centre, but you’d have to do the best with what we have until we figure out how to fill that spot back in.”

“And then, of course, you have to get extra things [in any trade] that you can either use in the future to flip for NHL players now or for other positions or things like that.“

Jesus Christ, Rutherford’s lost his fucking mind, get him the fuck out of there.

I can’t say I’ve been a huge fan of that. The whole rushing the build thing along, like they think that’s what we want. The disconnect is baffling. Hronek is fine but he’s also an injury machine and disappears for stretches. Sometimes the Chef fancies the idea of having both Sandin Pelikka and Willander waiting in the wings. That’s the kind of team building patience Chef misses.

What some of the fans of teams Rutherford used to manage have to say about him. Interesting stuff

After reading comments from the fans of teams Rutherford used to manage, and within light of what came out of the Gary Mason interview, Chef has absolutely zero confidence in Rutherford’s ability to do the right thing. He kind of suits the Aqualini mentality. He simply shouldn’t have gone to the media with this, it just puts them in a deeper position of weakness and makes the situation more of a mess than it has to be. It doesn’t reflect well. I’m convinced he’s an absolute buffoon.

Rutherford is playing the chimp fans and mouth breathing media beautifully. Not to mention the two babies who are sucking 20 million off the cap.

He is awesome.

He didn’t do himself any favours at the trade table, Blob. Not to mention the poor timing of it, the team has actually played a couple good games in a row but he decides to drop a turd in the media. Dick move while the guys are trying to work through it. It just adds gasoline to the fire, he’s an idiot, always has been.
