Remember when there was a song:

Closer than it needed to be. The defensive structure in the transition is sloppy, with a lot of odd-number chances against. Some defensive miscues continue for this team in terms of identifying assignments and communication. I hope they don't rest their laurels on this game.
De Brusk gets the monkey off his back. We'll see if it becomes a streak or not.
Take the points and go - back to the drawing board.

The window is open just wide enough to let the smell out.

Nice to see our new Jake the Snake (Debrusk) finally get on the board. Man, him and PS24 were just zipping the puck like NHL snipers tonite on their goals . I didn't think PS24 can shoot puck like that, his shooting didn't look like strong suit last year. He was looking like BoHo in the bumper/slot in this game.

PS24 showing Eleven Pointsixerrson how it's done.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it

As posted in this thread mid-game, that looked like a good game from a skating and efforting point of view. Most of the night, the Canucks had the ice tilted.
But the precision is not there, and it all starts in the defensive end. The flip side of “trees” on defense is that those trees are not passing well and are opting too often to bang the puck off the glass. Of course it’s a necessary play from time to time, but it’s like they are looking to do it. It’s the most concerning thing about this team.
Catching pucks also weirdly an issue. Baines, DeBrusk, Hoggy all struggled, all night. Glad DeBrusk got the monkey off his back, but it otherwise wasn’t a strong game at all.
Petey needs a winger, they say in the offseason. So let’s give him a guy who belongs in the ahl! Please…. Not excusing Petey, but please! It reminds me of when Josh Leivo was playing a top 6 role. Where plays go to die…..
The good news:
Another solid game from Lankinen. What a find.
Blueger looks faster this year, and choosing to force play more, both offensively and defensively. Get this guy some breakaway practice.
Of all the stars, Boeser is the only forward playing fairly close to his ability. And hitting tonight? Brock Bruiser! A post away from DeBrusk still being on the Schneid.
Garland is underrated as a pest. And 110% effort. Most likely player on the team to provide a “reset” shift if the opposition strings together multiple good shifts.
The Canucks with Hughes on the ice and the Canucks without Hughes are extremely different teams. Crazy how good he has become.

Scooter - $1,414,634.15 through ten games, 1G, 3A, 4Pts, -2. Last among Canuck forwards with 10 games played. The only forwards with less points are Sprong (3pts, 7 gms), Bains (1pt, 7gms), Aman (2pts, 4gms) and Raty (1pt, 3gms).
How bad was the SAP ice? Players loosing edges all night, a player falls 4 minutes into the third and comes up looking like a snowman. That may have been a role in the poor passing but not the full story.
Great HNIC discussion of the Pens/Habs elbows and knees. Bieksa shone, Dyke pussy'd, Luke went both ways, Ron hid.
Game looked like a 4 win team against a 3 win team. At this rate of play, LA on Thursday will be a clone of the Devils game.
Agree with UW, Brock has been a steady solid guy to date this season and deserves a lot of respect for it.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Did my bit for the cause.
Did not watch though.
Presumably with Silovs in net we lose.
Have to check the schedule now for my next call of duty.
Maybe EP40 will score.
