How long until a top 13 forward is injured once the roster is set? Two, maybe three regular season games?
Put Hockey Gaud in Utica for a couple/three games and preserve the centre depth.
Sutter/Gaudette will be a mute point once any centre is injured.
Getting rid of Sutter to make room for Gaudette would be really dumb as soon as any of the other centres get injured.
Players need to understand if they don’t have to clear waivers, they can really help the team by preserving team depth and not complaining about being sent down.
When Gaudette is a veteran, some other kid will be asked to accept being waived to help the team. It should all go around where young guys who don’t need to clear waivers take there turn in the minors to help the team.
It is not an unreasonable ask even if Gaudette slightly outperforms Sutter in the preseason, which he really hasn’t up to this point.

Agreed, the only way Canucks trade the mod is if they first trade for a guy like Risto.

And the only way they do that is if they first ship out Loui's contract.

Me, I'm considering Tanev our 'own rental' until further notice. :)
Same goes for sutter
To a lesser extent. They’ll keep Sutter until Gaudette shoves him out the door. There’s nobody breathing down Tanev’s neck and there’s nobody in the organization that can do what a healthy Tanev does.

But for the opening part of the year I’d keep Sutter. He’s overpaid but he’s not a shitty player if he’s healthy.
If tyramkin is signing in March, I take him over tanev right now without any reservation.
For the long term sure. But if they are ina race or in a spot, you keep Tanev. He’s an excellent d man when he’s healthy

The thing is, even if we made the playoffs and we have a healthy Tanev, I doubt he would last. Playoffs are generally way more physical, so I doubt he'd last a round or 2. On the other hand, I guess if someone were to tell us the Nucks will make the 2nd/3rd round of the playoffs this season, we'd say it's a great year.

Here's one from the 'micky falling off the roof' category

Erikson, sutter tanev for laine?

Use tanev as the bait for erikson, and given their desperation, laine (or other good talent) works be a decent return. Sutter for giggles, but also to take the sting out of it for the peg.

:drink:

Of course I exist to be roundly flamed, but might be something in the idea of offering the Jets a D to take erikson also, while getting something decent in return

For this team Todd, qualifying for the post season and winning a round would be an amazing year. I think it’s doubtful Tanev does stay healthy but if they happen to make the playoffs I believe he’d be one of the reasons they did.

That’s a big fall, Laine is 21.

The Jets are in tough with Laine. Laine’s ego is telling him “Matthews money! I’m better!” But in reality he’s a one trick pony who only cares about himself. I’d trade him if I was Dishevelledayoff. Send him to Philly for local boy - Nolan Patrick and wheat king Povorov. If not Povorov then Philip Myers and a top prospect like Lindbolm or Frost

Connors a definite keeper

Can't see the jets making that trade. They only get one year of Tanev.

Maybe Tanev, Sutter, Podkolzin and Jake. That would move enough salary to re-up Laine, and replace a flake for a flake!

When I hear the Prima Donna moanings of Laine and how the leaders of the Jets complain about him, seeing him give up in plays when his shots don’t go in the net or he pouts when teammates don’t pass to him I think Pavel Bure without the speed and stick handling. Get rid of him Shovel Day Off

.
Laine isn't as good as Boeser. His attendance is better but he didn't get checked into a fu*king solid wood bench door opening either.
Any comparison to what he wants and what Marner got is about as laughable as it gets.
He's a big dullard and needs to be fed the puck like like pablum on a spoon, to do anything with it.

Laine may have more peak upside than Brock, but its tough to say because I don't think we've seen a healthy Brock since December of his rookie year when he broke his wrist.

I agree with you though Mick, I wouldn't give up much in Trade for him, nor would I sign him to a massive contract.
