If you watched the video, there was a third group at the Lincoln Memorial that day who also confronted the school boys. The Black Hebrew Israelites were chanting racial violence against the children.

Mid December, two men, one affiliated with the Black Hebrew Israelites shot and killed five people at a Kosher deli in Jersey City. Another affiliate of the Black Hebrew Israelites stabbed 5 people during a machete attack at a Rabbi's house.

Yeah I remember the mention of the third group of black Hebrew Israelites who some blame for instigating the emotional standoff by baiting the shit-head hat wearing teens into a frenzy.

I confess that it pretty much was the first time I had really become aware of the religion, although I seem to remember some mention of them in popular culture before.

Seems the incident is being treated as an act of domestic terror but one should careful to unfairly paint the entire movement as extremists.

It is a curious idea though, an identifiable group of descendants of slavery would reject White Christianity by adopting the claim that they are the long lost tribe.

There is some social psychology going on there.

Obviously the men who perpetrated the domestic violence are evil and should be held accountable as terrorists. However, as of yet, no direct link has been made other than an affiliation with a group that according to the link you didn’t bother to read, is not one homogeneous group of beliefs, ideals or actions.

The fact that these murderers identify with the ideas of black Hebrew Israelites is not remarkable or that interesting.

What is interesting is the existence of the origin of the religion as a reaction against slavery and the racism of Jim Crow.

So, disregarding eveything surrounding this event, just going to the core - killing an Iranian general with an American drone is definitely an act of war. This is not the same as taking out terrorists.

This raises a number of questions:

Had congress been informed?
Has congress approved the initiation of a war against Iran?
Is the US ready for a full scale war against Iran?

Furthermore, by killing an Iranian general at an Iraqi airport with a drone; does this mean the USA now considers it legitimate to commit acts of war against a nation they are not at war with in a third country they are not at war with?

If so, that sets a rather scary precedent. This could, using the principle of reciprocity which is common in diplomacy, be interpreted to also mean that US generals, wherever they may be, are fair game for retaliation from Iran. Scary shit.
Maybe we should stop inviting US military to participate in our maneuvres?

Just watching some of the reaction on YouTube it seems trump’s America will probably skate on this because although the guy was a uniformed Iranian general, he was also a political actor in Iraq and was involved in non- state violence against American interests. That qualifies as terrorism and gives the president latitude.

The fact that they dropped a drone on the guy in Iraq and not in Iran itself will probably save us from a major escalation. But considering that it’s the Middle East and Arabs and Persians have a feud going back centuries.

Quds was declared a terrorist organization in 2007, the same year the UN Security Council sanctioned Soleimani. Those UN sanctions banned Soleimani from international travel.

As far back as June, 2019, the US was urging the UN to extend the sanctions as they are set to expire in October 2019. In August of last year, the US raised concern that General Soleimani has travelled to Russia in violation of the UN sanctions.

He was responsible for the attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad days earlier. The Embassy is considered US sovereign ground.
