Too much jocko home bro' culture in the pods to listen to on a regular basis.
I prefer news over back slapping story telling.
well, last time I checked, news talk radio was opinions, not really news...
jus sayn.
I didn't listen to it either.
Rejoice, the rebooted idiots are dead.

Losing 650 isn't a big deal to me but losing 1130 was since I needed to hear some traffic news when driving.
Also it is more about the fact Rogers really only gives a shit about Toronto so being a good westerner this is just another reason to hate Ontario.

Worst part about McKenna going to Toronto.....we're gonna slowly hate the kid because every time he wipes his ass Sportsnet has to write an article about it.

He's reminding me of a young EP40 a lot so you can take comfort in that

Just the latest face of a long-running phenomenon in Canadian sports broadcasting. Vancouver could win two consecutive Cups, and they’d get no more coverage than the Avs. Meanwhile, Friedman is reporting on the consistency of McKenna’s pre-game stool and prognosticating how many goals he’ll score as a result.

I didn’t expect much grief over the loss of 650. I also didn’t expect much of 650 but I do grieve it. Sports radio is empty calories but well everyone has a vice and that was one for me.

Speaking of Sportsnet, they let Kelly Hrudey go.

I hope this doesn't mean Ron MacLean will be returning.

Hrudey in broadcasting for 28 years??!!
It feels like a year ago at most I was watching him backstop the Islanders to victory in that 4 OT game where LaLaLaLa LaFontaine scored the winner.
Time rocks on brah....

Hrudey's NHL career and broadcasting career are interesting studies in longevity. He was never the best or the worst at either -- never among the elite, usually in a group with another player/broadcaster more despised (or incompetent). Maybe the sweet spot for longevity is to burn less bright.

That is good news. Good play-by-play callers don't come around every day, and he's both good and a good fit for the market. That said, he's not so good (like Hughson) that Rogers will scoop him up to work for the Toronto market.

Let's hope he gets to call some wins eventually.
Rogers Media Inc. has re-upped Shorthouse on a four-year contract to continue calling Canucks games for Sportsnet.
