Why not? We don't need a multitude of small umbrellas that DEI pushes for. What is lost in many of the DEI initiatives is how divisive they are.
I have said before, I don't care what colour or religion you are. Nor do I care what is between your legs or what you do with it. Be a good hard working person with a thick skin and a sense of humour and you will go far.
Side note, a mine I worked at forbid the use of the word tranny in their DEI policy. An equipment operator was fired for getting the mechanics on the radio and telling them his machine was low on tranny fluid. I'm reminded of the old "baby oil" joke.

I think you could expand that to say it is used to encompass any agenda that a fringe or minority group wants to advance, or any ideology/project that is not instantly popular with the majority.
