Well at least we know Prust up's his game tremendously in the playoffs...Island Nucklehead wrote:Pretty much. He played 11 mins/game last season, 11th on Montreal's forwards. He did get significant PK time, but Vancouver had the 2nd-best PK in the league, not sure how much improvement we need (a .07 % improvement would make us #1). I don't see him supplanting Bonino, Higgins, Burrows or Hansen. Horvat will likely take over for Richardson, so Prust might eat some of Matthias' PK time, but that's it. He doesn't score. He hits less than Kassian. What he does do is fight. 16 times last season. 3rd in the league, and one less than Dorsett.SKYO wrote:Is that all you think of Prust?Island Nucklehead wrote: a 4th line face-puncher
Anyone expecting Prust, at 31, to go back in time to when he was 26 is delusional. Assuming he doesn't get hurt, he'll be good for 11-12 minutes per night, 15 fights, and 12-15 points. It's probably exactly what the Canucks are after, but the price to attain it was horrid.

'Did the Habs make a mistake trading Brandon Prust? '
..Essentially each scoring chance play is the result of an event chain, and every successful event in an unbroken chain, will lead to that player getting credit.
Approaching scoring chances this way allows us to see which players are most involved in creating offence, not just attributing everything to the shooter...
Brandon Prust is a significant standout here, as not only the Habs’ leading scoring chance producer, but the only player with a valid sample to significantly improve in the playoffs on their regular season numbers.
Prust’s numbers in the regular season were impressive as is for a fourth liner, out-producing Dale Weise in offence creation in spite of significantly tougher minutes, and with significantly less talented linemates. However the playoff numbers he was able to produce are astonishing.
In the playoffs, Prust’s ability to create scoring chances was nearly at Max Pacioretty levels, made even more impressive when you consider that he started a staggering number of his shifts in the defensive zone. Unfortunately for Prust, the Canadiens couldn’t score to save their lives in the playoffs, so all his great play went virtually unnoticed, though perhaps not by the Vancouver Canucks.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Excellent for whoever trades for him at the deadline. Beninng needs all the help he can get when negotiating trades.SKYO wrote: Well at least we know Prust up's his game tremendously in the playoffs...

Don't get me wrong, SKYO. I don't mind Prust at all. I just recognize what he is (an older Dorsett clone), and that the price we paid for one season is a gross overpayment. He's likely going to be a favorite here, because he'll drop 'em. He'll distract the masses with his fists while we stumble through a shitty season.SKYO wrote: LoL I like your passion for your hatred for him/kass trade.

TruTru, man we could get a good haul at the 2016 trade deadline for Prust, Vrbata and Higgins, a lot of draft picks and a coupla prospects.Island Nucklehead wrote:Don't get me wrong, SKYO. I'd only count on Miller and possibly Sbisa to have bounce back seasons. The other two are basically young rookies.Strangelove wrote: If 3 of Miller/Sven/Sbisa/Vey have solid seasons next year

If Vey and "I might go back to Europe Sven" combine for 60points, I'll be happy. Until we draft 11th.

Hamhuis will re-sign, Burrows is 2016 NHL draft or an offseason trade, Hansen is the speedster we need going forward.Hockey Widow wrote:Hey you forgot Hamhuis, Burrows and Hansen.SKYO wrote: TruTru, man we could get a good haul at the 2016 trade deadline for Prust, Vrbata and Higgins, a lot of draft picks and a coupla prospects.

If we are heading towards another 100 point season we won't see any trades. But hopefully that means Benning won't be a buyer either.
I think Miller will have another good season. I'm hoping Markstrom can get his GAA down below three
I'm hoping Sven is in the Calder trophy run. I'm hoping Vey gets 20-20 for 40+ points. I don't care if Sbisa gets any points as long as he is even in plus/minus.
I don't want to tank, I want to make the playoffs but I wouldn't cry if we are out of it by TDD either. But it doesn't matter. Benning isn't capable of winning a trade don't ya know?
