So if I got this right:

Kessel (15% retained), Biggs, Erixon, 2nd FOR Spalling, Kapanen, Harrington, 1st, 3rd.

leaves are carrying about $8.5M in dead space (Horton, Kessel, Gunnarson, Gleason)

Boston trades Reilly Smith and Marc Savard to Florida for Jimmy Hayes.

The "retired" contracts continue to move!

Trading these injured and done players is pure cap circumvention and even though legal I can't imagine Bettman being happy. I known I'm not. It makes a mockery of things.

You say that now Wids....

But when Luongo retires and Linden conjures up a way to deal the Luongo recapture "tax" to (insert small market club _______)

You won't be barking then.

Absolutely right I won't be. And if that happens I hope the Canucks do try and move the cap recapture. The difference is, he isn't under contract with the Canucks so they can't trade his rights.

If I was with the NHLPA I'd be pissed too. This helps teams get to the cap floor but does not add jobs nor increase salaries.

They can't trade the recapture tax. That is attached to the team that received cap benefit from the front loaded contract years.

Vancouver could trade the salary portion they retained in the Luongo deal, but cap recapture if he were to retire is stuck with them.

Yup, why Lu is down south, in retirement country.

St Louis is retiring.

I hear Stevie Y slowly clapping.

You'd think the Rags could have gotten a 3rd for his negotiating rites, no wonder Sather stepped aside.
