Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 26-27
Just when I was lamenting how Calgary will give Vancouver a run for their money in the lottery standings, now this!
Watch, the Rangers will place out of the playoffs and pull a Toronto-style lottery win.

Nah.
Igor did it himself.
Quite similar to the event that ended Richters career.

Richter came back from that and played 50 games the next year.donlever wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:02 pm Nah.

Per a cursory search, Richter's career was ended early because of concussions.

Yes indeed. And I'm sure at his age, recovering from that knee injury probably contributed to his decision to hang 'em up.
Begs the question now: Do the Rangers suddenly enter the Hellebuyck sweepstakes? I'm skeptical because they would be carrying $20M in the crease for 4 seasons starting next year.....however the Rags are not known for making good decisions.

How about this Mëds?
If a package were to include Korpisalo back to Detroit, Larkin and John Gibson to the Rangers could be massaged to fit their cap and give them US National teammates Miller/Dylan as their 1/2 center tandem and a legit goalie for this season.
Gibson is in the final year of his deal so doesn't hamper the long term netminding cost in NY.

Fuck around! That sure looks like a significant axial load alright. May have tucked his head at the last second. I’m actually surprised he was flat on his belly after that.donlever wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2026 4:22 pm Not sure how many saw this but Jesus Fuck.....that appears a cunt hair from paralysis or even death (page 2).

Intriguing. What else is Detroit getting? They allegedly are not willing to rebuild at this point.donlever wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2026 4:59 pmHow about this Mëds?

Also wouldn’t the Rags prefer to keep their backup to play behind Gibson?

Haven't dug into it.
The Wings can want what they want but it's high time they accept a semi-rebuild.
They're unlikely to get vet value for value for Larkin imo...anyone taking a run at Dylan is aiming for post season success so any equitable veteran return is likely a wash.
They're also on the verge of losing Edvinsson so may as well line up a quickie rebuild on the fly...they have enough talent to undertake it short term as opposed to long like us.
Dealing Larkin and Simon for youth and picks added to what they have could add up to a quick turnaround.
Rumour has Quick willing to jump back in to help NYR so he could back up Gibson.
Haven't thought much about a return.
Rags have Gabe Perreault and a I think their '27 first although I have not looked.

Interesting factoid (rumouroid?) regarding Quick. That could be quite helpful for NY…..I would imagine that JQ would need a month to get back up to NHL speed.
Will be interesting to see what they do…..
I know what the Aquanucks would do in NYR’s situation.
