Fans are funny. We glady believe the media when they are uber hyping our favourite team, believe all the hype. But when the media turns negative we claim it is trash talk, unfair and bias. Seems some folks in Trawwna believed all the media proclamations that the leaves were contenders, great goaltending, deep defence, superior forwards, great leadership, great contracts et etc etc. now when the media points out the truths, the weaknesses that were obvious to the rest of the universe, these same Trawwna fans cry foul. Stop picking on us, boo hoo. Stop being so negative, boo hoo. Stop making mountains out of mole hills, boo hoo. Don't air our dirty laundry in public, boo hoo.

If you sucked ass, had jerseys thrown on the ice, and then made a concious decision to NOT salute the fans and offer up any rational reason to explain your decision (other than it's a fuck you to the boo-birds), there would obviously be questions asked. Look at the Oilers Jersey-toss when it first came out last year, was big news. The Torts dressing room attack vs. Calgary, news for weeks. The Canadian media LOVES kicking Canadian teams when they're down. Blood sells. This is not unique to the Leaves.

Their heads are up MLSE's asses. Because they ARE, in fact, MSLE. So, their heads are up their own asses? Seems uniquely suitable, for that franchise.

My uncle who is a big time leaves fan passed away Thursday from cancer.

He was an amazing Irish man who was a butcher in North Bay Ontario. Another man who would not complain even when you could see he was in pain.

As I said earlier for the remaining of this season the leaves will be my 2nd team and every time they win I will toast my uncle. I will not defend the team as I don't really know much about them but sometimes blood is thicker than a hate for a rival hockey team.

Interesting fact, my uncle was also named Pat. (as if Pat is not a common Irish name)

You guys can't have it both ways. You say they love the leaves and never criticize them, then make the odd claim saluegate doesn't count because it has to do with on the ice.

The crap the leaves got the last couple of weeks was laughable. Canuck fans would be going nuts if TSN/Sportsnet said that.

2014-15 prediction: Toronto remains a bubble team in the Atlantic Division and will be among the group fighting for a wild-card playoff spot late in the year before ultimately falling short.



It seems as though the SN consensus was "barely miss the playoffs"?

(as opposed to "miss the playoffs and be very bad")

But isn't it fair to say that the Toronto media WANT the Leaves to make the playoffs?

That's the perspective from folks outside the centre of the universe....

Despite all their problems the leaves are going to get into the playoffs. They are in the East, not the West and they do have talent despite the lousy culture in T.O.
