The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Neither better attend any last minute rooftop meetings unless theyre visiting countries with big beautiful walls
Well, I've been to China and I've been to Berlin, but nah. Walls don't really do it for me.
This makes so much more sense:
The Tornio-Haparanda Golf Course. You cross the border four times when playing eighteen holes. On hole six, you tee up in Sweden, but the green is in Finland. No border checks, no passports. You just pay your green fee and play!
I think even The Don could relate to this.

I can visualize herds of north african "golfers" enjoying the course...
I’ve never before tried to visualize a herd of golfers... all with beer guts, polo shirts, visors, plaid trousers and dragging those golf bags with wheels...
And a border collie circling to keep them from straying...

I don’t have any handicap, I’m in pretty good health...
And, no, I don’t really play golf.

As I’ve stated before, the trade war with China is really going to hurt the Midwest. It’s beginning to show:
The Farm Bureau report showed that farmer bankruptcies had risen in every region of the U.S. for the year ending in June except for the Southwest. Wisconsin, Kansas and Minnesota led the nation in Chapter 12 filings; bankruptcy filings in Kansas and Minnesota increased so significantly in the past year that they reached the highest levels of the past decade
“With these added tariffs farmers are not getting their credit lines renewed, banks are coming in and foreclosing on their farms, taking their family living away and it's too much for some of them. We have seen a definite increase in the suicide rate and depression in farmers in the U.S., especially in the Upper Midwest.”
A USDA study shows that Canadian shipments of wheat to China have grown over 400% in two years. The report said, “Canada’s share of total Chinese imports of wheat has rocketed above 60% in marketing year 2018/19, up from 32% in marketing year 2017/18, as U.S. wheat exports to China have plunged and Australian exportable supplies have fallen sharply.”

The family farm is a quaint memory. Those still remaining will continue to fade away.
Economy of scale.
Just had dinner with some Iowans tonight. One has a brother who took over the family farm and still runs it.
Soy beans, corn and oats. I think he may have a tough road ahead of him.
The son of the family I stayed in back in the 80’s has sold his farm though and is now operating the local grain silo instead.

Look at the size and cost of the machinery being used and how many days/weeks a year it is used for, you know the independent family farmer is doomed.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
