Up and coming Brit-band Viola Beach had just finished their first gig ouside of Britain at Where's The Music? in Norrköping Sweden and were heading North to Stockholm where they had a reservation at an airport hotel. They were supposed to play at a sold out gig in Guildford the next day.
Anyway, in Södertälje, just South of Stockholm, they passed a line of vehicles waiting in line at a bridge opening at high speed, clipping the side mirror of a taxi, running a red light, ramming a road barrier and continuing over the edge where the bridge was supposed to be... then a 25 metre drop Before crashing into the Södertälje Canal.
The police retrieved a badly mangled car wreck from the water and the bodies of five young men, later identified as Viola Beach and their manager.
