Elliotte Friedman@FriedgeHNIC
Some stuff to look forward to in modified CBA: Flat salary cap (unless changed, numbers were $81.5M next two years, $82.5M in 2022-23); cap on

escrow (starting at 20 per cent next season, moving down after that); return to Olympics (pending agreement with IOC)...

10 per cent of next season’s salary deferred; language for right to opt-out of Return to Play. Also, NHL fought for changes to contract structure — limits

on signing bonuses and less salary fluctuation on a year-to-year basis. We’ll see how that looks.
And I think looser Louis is owed about 3 million today...
Like Wiz said, Loui doesn't get his til the 15th.

It will be interesting to see what the new cap formula looks like.

The present formula is clearly flawed, made obvious by the ever climbing escrow.

We already know the cap will be flat for two years, and then rise by only $1M.

But fixing this escrow problem will be a drag on the cap for longer than that I think.

COVID did a huge number on revenues obviously, but the cap has been 10% higher than it should for a few years.

If the NHL/NHLPA finalize things, if the players ratify it, and subject to negotiation with IOC, sounds like proposed CBA extension includes the NHL’s return to Olympic participation covering both 2022 and 2026. Which is 👌

@TSNBobMcKenzie

On critical dates, one we can pencil in — we are using @TSNquizmaster’s No. 2 pencil — is Free Agent Frenzy(?) on Nov. 1, 2020. We know this, for now, because 2019-20 contracts set to expire on June 30 have been extended to Oct. 31. So Nov. 1 would be Day 1 of 2020-21 contracts.

I'd say theyll assemble everyone in their hub sites and if there is an outbreak among the players it'll get axed quick. If they arrive and theres no outbreak its game on
If you need air...call it in

I'm hoping it gets cancelled so as to minimize the fuckage to the 2020-21 season.

If this restart happens dat dere will be more like a 2021-21 season = January start? :eh:

And if the restart is cancelled, the Leaves don't get to participate in the Laffy Lotto.

We would lose the potential to do so as well

If they lose to the Wild, they have a 12.5 % chance at Lafreniere don’t they?

You're right, they'd come up with a reason to cancel the lottery. :(

But;

https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2020/07 ... t-cba.html

The last paragraph;
The current pandemic could also play a role in things, not only if it extends for a while yet but also on the schedule for that season. 2020-21 is expected to start in December at the earliest and run some time into the early summer. Knowing the Olympics cause a sizable gap in the schedule for 2021-22, it’s going to be difficult to bump up the start time for that season with the preceding playoffs running long. Accordingly, if this comes to fruition, we could be seeing playoff hockey in the summer not just this season (if they are able to get back to action) but for the next two as well.
