Uninspired by this coaching group. But they are cheap, and easily replaced. This looks like a short term group, but I hope they surprise and the team does well.
Rutherford is on the clock with these hires. It’s been a crap run for this management: Deharnais over Cole, Sprong over Pod, Miller over Bo, likely Lankinen over Demko, no TDL trades for Boeser, Suter, Forbort, inability to handle Miller/Pettersson issues, coaching staff chooses to work elsewhere, etc…
When Hughes leaves a mutually agreed on retirement will be in the cards for Rutherford.
Then it’s see ya Allvin, Foote, and all.
On to the next management group, coaching group, and retool (avoiding rebuild at all cost), rinse and repeat.

But it’s not all bleak - Go Abby Canucks Go!

Ahhhhhh!

“Boesers Replacement” - Lekkerimaki 1 goal in 12 AHL playoff games, scratched in last game.

Out top 6 situation absolutely blows in the present and future. But hey, the defence! I gather we will try and win 1-0 games all next season?

Would be totally OK with all of the above, even if it were to happen after this year, as long as the owners go with them.

He's falling perfectly into our tradition of Swedes who seem to be allergic to playoff hockey (Naslund, Petey, Hogs, Sedins to an extent). Uggh..I hate this narrative and wish one of these guys will break the mould. Thought Petey did in the bubble, but that was the bubble.

One thing I'll say about Lekk is I've always had an issue with rushing these young guys into the league too soon. When he was rolling in Abby this year I really hoped they wouldn't touch him and just let him keep rolling along. But out of necessity more than anything they had to call him up when they did. He didn't look out of place at all when he was up, but he clearly wasn't ready to contribute in any meaningful way to justify sacrificing confidence building development. I had a feeling he'd struggle to find his footing when he was sent back and sure enough. Maybe I'm making it a bigger deal than it is, but imagine this kid going into the offseason knowing he tore up the A and is ready and excited to take the next step. Instead he may questioning his abilities not only in bigs but also in the A. Two completely different mindsets. All for a meaningless call up.

Or could also just come to he wasn't 100% due to whatever he was dealing with and is just having a bit of trouble finding his way back. Let's hope.

His face plant in the boards and dental surgery is probably more of a factor than anything else.

Really thought we had something special when Petey in the bubble matched or outproduced both generational players McDavid and Matthews in the playoffs at the time.

The thing is I don't know if we can label Petey a playoff no-show because we've only seen him in one real one. And..it was during a time when he sucked for most of the season. So, was it that he's a playoff failure, or he failed in the playoffs because he failed last year period?

Next year will answer a lot of questions.

Lekker is pure birdbones, his struggles post season in the AHL is super concerning, but according to some, he’s our replacement for Boeser

“Boeser’s Replacement”
The kid is 20. He had a pretty nasty concussion.

He also had oral surgery recently and was wearing the fishbowl attachment on his helmet. With the facial injury, I think he probably lost some weight on his already tiny 172-pound frame. Speculation on my part, of course. He's not in the lineup tonight after playing the last game. Even without the offense, he doesn't hurt you, though. The attention to detail is certainly there with this kid.

Are you worried about his light frame? Is he punching to far above his weight? Talk to me.
