..and yeah, not on board with Demko Nuck, a bit worried about him.
I'd argue with you but I know the moment I do Demmer let's in 6 next game, guaranteed.
So I won't.
Will just say of the dozen problems this team now faces he's probably number 10 or 11 on my list. Too much there to write him off from 14 substandard games after a long tough absence.
It’s not the substandard games. It’s the durability of the player.

The recurring long absences.

Clearly you all are taking sides, so I will too. Go Petey!
We are all Canucks.
Its odd though, it feels like some posters really want Pettersson to fail and for management to get gassed more than for the Canucks to do well. Just an observation.
I'd say that's accurate Blob.
I'd agree as well

Fair. Still I'd rather stay patient and try to work him through it. Over the alternative, which is way riskier. We've been blessed with good goaltending for years and don't realize or forgot how tough it is to find when you don't have it. While Lankinen has been a godsend, it's way too uncertain if he can carry the load. We see it all the time when goalies get on hot stretches but can't sustain it the following year or ever again. I'm choosing the devil we know.

Who is the new off ice leader? Myers is 35 and their natural ice daddy

196 cm and 80 kg? Sounds like my brother in law.
He’s a kidney specialist though, and not a hockey player.
And I think he may have gained a few kg over the last few decades, probably closer to 90 now, but yeah, in his 20’s and 30’s.

Boeser, the quiet leader, the patriarch, the calming influence.

It’s weird. I think I finally like how the Canucks’ defence is shaping up moving forward. If Myers continues to play the way he has all season, they have a nice top four. I’ve always been impressed with Marcus Pettersson and when healthy Hronek and Hughes are a nice top pairing. That’s two righties and two lefties just like Tocchet likes.
Behind them they have four youngsters - again two on each side - that have very good potential to be successful in the NHL. Willander and Mancini on the right and DePetey and Kudryavsev on the left. I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect to see each of them playing some games with Vancouver next season.
Between the top four and the four young defencemen, they have decent bottom pairing placeholders in Soucy and Forbort.
There is a good chance more limited players like Juulsen and Friedman won’t be needed in the top six in the future unless an extreme rash of injuries occur.
It’s been a long time since the Canucks have iced a solid defensive group, but I think they are there once they sign Marcus Pettersson to an extension and Willander finishes college.
Baring re-injury Demko and Lankinen make a good goalie tandem.
I won’t be surprised if the Canucks use their first rounder to add to the top six forwards (ideally a centre with term) in the coming weeks.
But whatever the case, this team should be much better at holding on to leads with their new defensive group.
The concern is, can they get enough clutch scoring from this forward group without Miller?
It’d be helpful if DeBrusk and Boeser could contribute consistently.

Is Marcus related to either of the E Peteys?
No, Pettersson is a very common name in Sweden.

Good post PoC.
The model of building around your 1C and then from the crease out through the blueline seems to be unfolding.
They’ve (for now) decided Pettersson is the 1C. Demko and Lankinen do make a good 1-2 option in net. If 3-Pete is as advertised, then the top-4 is looking good.
Definitely need some truculence up front still.
Can’t recall who, but someone said something about Pettersson having a Tom Wilson on his wing would make for a more effective Petey….. probably an astute prediction.
I think the same applies to Hughes.
There is still work to be done up front. But we have all been saying since September that this blueline was bush league. Now it’s not.
