I keep getting this feeling they're gonna go hard after Ehlers.
No more runts says I.
Marner
Marner has dissapeared in the playoffs again.
Hard No.
He has 12 points in 11 GP. He leads all Toronto forwards in TOI and SH/TOI. Sure, it's 2 goals and 10 helpers, so he's light in the actual goals department, however his regular season stat line reads 27 goals and 75 assists.....if he scores a goal tonight he's right where he always is, albeit with a lower PPG compared to his regular season numbers, but that's true of most players in the post-season.
When your goaltenders are boasting a 4.02 GAA and .877 SV% (or worse), in the second round, this doesn't fall on the forwards.
The Leaves have never addressed their crease properly. Stick Oettinger in there and they probably are up in this series. Hell, even Stolarz was playing well enough that this could be different.
I love that it's not though.
BUT.....
If Marner has any interest in coming to Vancouver as a free agent, explore it very seriously.
I'm with the "no more runts" camp. Canucks need some size with skill.
No more half- measures. If they can't aquire said player, then draft & develop.

If you have a crack at Mitch the Bitch you take him all day long.
Find the beef in a different move but Van needs top line talent and MtB is definitely that (I hate to admit it)
What I think ToronToilets issue is is that big marshmallow Matthews and his lack of courage under fire.

I think all this speculation is fantasy as if he leaves the high pressure of TO he'll be looking for a quieter landing spot than another rabid Canadian fan base to bitch about his game.
That said, that commitment is a big swing but all the leagues best teams take them especially when the only cost is cap space. Nobody in an NHL management team bats an eye except fans to acquire assets like this

To keep him in a Canadian market I think you're looking at $13M. It's not a doable thing for Vancouver if Pettersson's $11.6M is still on the payroll. That is too heavy up front in non-physical players. As good as Marner is at playing all zones, you need to have some brawn to go with that sort of player.
If you go after Marner, the other reason you have to trade EP40 is the NMC. Marner will require one of those, and if Hughes can be convinced to stay, and you have thrown $13M at Marner, and still have $11.6M committed to Pettersson, that will be at least $38M being allocated to 3 guys. Also, while some have called it rumour mongering, I think that the information that Donny passed along, from a source he considers to be reliable enough to share, coupled with reading what we could from Tocchet's season end, as well as the player's season-end, media availability, points to Pettersson not being a very popular teammate.....combining that with the risk that Pettersson remains what we have seen for the past 18 months, I think it is just too much of a dice roll to go forward with him as a lynch pin player.

Wasn't it in last year's playoffs that William Nylander was caught yelling at him and Mathews to stop crying on the bench?
Willy F'in Nylander thinks they are crybabies.
Enough for me to say no.

Just say no to The Bitch.
And don't forget he's also a Son of a Bitch.
He and his dad will prolly demand 7 X $14 from us.
If he doesn't re-sign with TO, he likely signs in California
... and waits for his bumbuddy The Pigman to join him.

Let someone else overpay him and make EP40 look like a bargain.

I lost all respect for Tocchet after seeing him break spaghetti in half and putting olive oil in the water to boil his pasta. Absolute mangiacake right there. Probably uses bacon and cream to make carbonara.

So we sign Marner to 11.6 to match Petey. Then, After 3 years of first round exits where Mitch the Bitch gets 2 points in the 7 elimination games and disappears for those games that matter, you shill have a ‘crisis of angst’ where you can’t decide to not hate more of the 11.6 club… why put yourself through the stress?
Just Hard No on Itchy.

Not at all. I only want to see Marner come here if Pettersson is traded.

As much as think they should have traded Boeser for best offer, now that he is still with us until July, and given what scorers are going to go for, I think if we can get Boeser for 6x8-8.5 we should do it. I’d prefer 5 years but I’d bite on 6 given the market.

Yuck. Just sign Suter for 4 x 5. He can play multiplr positions and gives pk utility.
Boeser is Jeff Skinner. Thank Christ he didnt take the 8 x 5 deal that Allvin offered.
The kid I liked is Karlsson. I helieve he needs some love. RH shot bit of an edge and isn't slower than the kid who kicked the piss out of Daniel in the Karate Kid. Miyagi got it dialed in.
Deal Brock's rights, 2027 1st, 2026 2nd for Marco Rossi. Billy has a history wih Rutherford.
