The Golden Harvest is now The Imperial which is a very cool live music venue now completely renovated. Saw a show there last fall.

I think this was the one where my Noni worked at a very long time agoMegaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:13 pm There was a second, even older, smaller Pantages theater farther up Hastings near Main. It was finally destroyed in 2011 but not before the city dicked around for a while going through the motions of trying to save it. This one was still open in the mid seventies as the City Nights and my friends and I used to like to go down there to watch movies once in a while. It was a really cool old place with ornate plaster sculpture and great balconies and it used to run a lot of cult movies. I first saw The Night of the Living Dead there. It stayed open as a Chinese theater for quite a few years after that but it sat empty for a long time in a state of decay. Too long I guess.

Yeah, I've mentioned before here about how my pals and I used to watch the occasional flick at City Nights.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:13 pm There was a second, even older, smaller Pantages theater farther up Hastings near Main. That's really interesting, I wasn't really aware of him until just now, so, thanks. I'm obviously interested in this kind of stuff.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 7:38 pmGreat photo. Inside info, famed Granville Street street photographer - Foncie Pulice was my uncle. My Noni’s Brother

At the Buddah one night, guy pulls out his dick in the crowd and started pissng all over the place while everyone nearby who noticed, scrambled to get the fuck out of the way.

Yeah it’s a pretty cool slice of history. He took a ton of photos. He used to set up at the PNE for the two weeks. I’m sure some of you may remember. My brother used to work for him there, in fact I think my bro and a cousin got in shit for stealing money off himCornuck wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 7:07 amVery cool- a real slice of Vancouver history.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 7:38 pm Great photo. Yeah I looked up Foncie's website right after Chef mentioned him last night and was looking at some of his pictures, Amazing work. And I do believe I had heard of him before now come to think of it. I forget about everything now.

Haha. Yeah there were a lot of rough watering holes down there back then and that one was maybe the roughest.
I recall most of them had country and western bands playing in them.
I still remember one guy with a cherry red Fender Telecaster who could play Buckaroo almost as good as Don Rich

Probably was at the Kit Kat Club.
