I'd say playoffs or not the team should move Burr for whatever pick they can get, even just for the culture change to the youth movement.

You don't move Burrows to force a culture change. That's asinine. He's the best leader the team has. He and Hansen are the most versatile vets remaining. They are the hardest working 200 foot players, and you can't say that some of the success of Bo and Baer is not due to Burrows being on their line.

If you want to force a culture change with a trade that replaces the player with prospects or picks, you force Edler out. Sure he eats big minutes on the top pairing, but he's a mental midget, fragile as hell between the ears, gets into funks, and withers when a coach gets mad at him and rewards his all-to-frequent mistakes with some harsh words or a spot on the bench. He is a "loser" of a player. He has been the go-to guy that has screwed up and cost many a game, and he has endured all of the same failures that the Sedins, Burrows, and Hansen, have come through. The difference is that those other guys consistently compete and show obvious leadership when on the ice.

It is LONG PAST TIME for the Canucks to move on from Edler.....it should have happened in 2012. That's the culture that needs to change. It is also the change that likely lands us the highest value, and potentially team changing, return.

In the mean time, in all likelihood Burrows will bolt to the Habs July 1st, where he lives in the offseason, grew up a habs fan etc.

Not to mention we will probably not make the playoffs, so what's the point keeping a veteran guy that can give us a draft pick and who will likely move on after the season is done?


Christ time to move on from players, team needs more picks, team needs more youth up front, quit holding on to old players for character, what good has having all that 200ft skill and mentorship the past 5 years? knocked out 3x in first round and now incl 2017 probably missing the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years.

And IF we do miss the playoffs this year one wonders if the SEDINS say fuck it, lets go to a another team, that return would be pretty decent if we retain some salary 50%, probably looking at a 1st, 2nd, prospect, young proven roster player and a cap hit player or two to reach $7m.

You think that another GM is going to pay all of that for the Sedins? Or are you saying both of them return one of a 1st, 2nd, prospect, or young roster player, and the cap hit player?

Well if the team can retain 50% of their cap on both Sedins to trade em to a true contender, we would get a pretty good haul.

Could be superb for the Canucks rebuild and they might want to be traded so they don't go out like Malone & Stockton of the Jazz with zero championships while being one of the best tandems in their respective leagues.

This would be done in the summer obviously for a mega trade, almost any contender sans the blackhawks/pens could afford to deal $5m-$7m in roster players + picks and prospects to acquire the Sedins @40%-50% retention.

This has to have to cross the minds of the Sedins lately, as they reach the end of their contracts and are in the twilight age of their NHL careers, they'll be 37 to start the 2017/18 season, so they could in theory play another couple years.

Kings, Ducks, Rangers, Habs, even the dreaded Oilers before McDavid gets his astronomical contract.

I think the best spot for all parties involved is the Rangers, they got a small window to win it all, they got some good young pieces to move, an Alain Vigneault connection, NYR Naslund can tell the twins about how grand it is, an original six team.

It's such a New York Yankees/Rangers type of move to acquire the HHOF twins and they are on the other side of the country, easier to make such a blockbuster for Vancouver.

And they can keep Zibanejad and Stepan for the future in case the sedins bolt back home in a year.

lots of options really. **actually I wouldn't care if the sedins go to NY, that is IF it can expedite our rebuild quicker and the sedins return in year anyways.

Bill Belichick style, team success over everything, the teams in the gutter (not just for a year either, it's been multiple poor seasons since 2012, a smart team would sell all the old vets with close to expiring contracts, gain youthful roster players, prospects, picks.

Man, we were right there and we had a good chance, but in the month of January we had some winnable games, but didn't (ie: Phoenix b4 all-star break), so we lost alot of points in a few games there. I know every game is tough in the NHL and in any given night any team can win, but if u wanna make the playoffs, u gotta capitalize on your chances more often than not. Our guys failed to do that.

This road trip will make it or break it for us. We had a bad start vs Nashville yesterday, but we pretty much have to win every game here to have a chance. .500 hockey the rest of the way won't be enuff, we definitely in tuff with some tuff games here. If we have a poor road trip, JB should definitely start selling.
