Just finished watching all 5 seasons of the wire over the holidays, good stuff.Watched the newsroom before that and thought the first episode was one of the best ever(had to watch it twice!) phenomenal.
Didn't think Jeff Daniels had that in him.
Can't watch regular TV anymore, the ads are too much. So i just download complete seasons of shows that interest me.
A far more enjoyable way to watch.
Need to get a PVR for the NFL though

Yup, completely agree. I'm watching The Wire right now.
Watch Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and a few others either on Netflix (to catch up) or streamed online.
Have to check out Newsroom after I'm done The Wire.
It's much easier, I can wait until the kids are asleep and then hammer off 2-3 episodes depending on how tired I am. No commercials, just pop-ups ads that are easily closed, and I've hooked up my laptop to our TV. May not be HD but I'm fine with that.

Anyone know anything about Justified.
I recently read Dave Alvin and Jesse Dayton were working on music for the show.
I dl'd Breaking Bad, fuck me are they ever incompetent. Predictably incompetent, but I will say it is far less of a silly soap opera than SoA.

You hit the biker bitches nail on the bomb der TopTop...it's a soap and nothing more
Blobster loves his manlove shows with dramalama ding dong in it.
I don't know much about Justified other than it's going into season 4
Deadwood was an awesome western, too bad it's *looks around for LifePolice⢠* ...gulp....dead
BB is pretty unpredictable and the humour darkly morbid which keeps me happy...
When I look for a new show I like to look overseas as well. That's where I first discovered The Office and Wilfred...funny they came over here to acclaim... BBC & AussieTV has some good shows, check 'em out...
Alan Ball has an interesting drama starting...Banshee...I really liked Six Feet Under, True Blood was all right but no Buffy/Angel...

Onto the 5th season of the Wire and loving it. Loved crime scene where they only said fuck the whole time, Mcnulty with his "what the fuck did I do?" and the rotating names for drugs being shouted out in the background, "WMDS!!!!..... PANDEMIC!!!!\"

I thought the fifth season was pretty weak. I have zero fucks to give about the Baltimore newspaper and Carcetti's difficulties as mayor of a monkey-run shithole.
Great show overall though. Season 4 was the bomb.

To me Season 5 really tainted the series, I thought the serial killer BS was just too much to believe.
The newspaper stuff is alright but really if the first four seasons weren't so great (and I wasn't invested in the characters) then I probably wouldn't have stuck with it.

OK, just watched first 6 episodes of House of Cards...impressive, I should have known with David Fincher at the helm.
If you are a fan of West Wing, The Wire and evil politics in general then this is your show.
Kevin Spacey is a bastard, Robin Wright is (viewable) and the supporting cast excellent, the stories are slower paced but go somewhere with very satisfying results...
Good for Netflix...this may be the future of TV (releasing a full season altogether)...looking forward to Arrested Development...
